Walk it, drive it, fly over it – it was “made for you and me.” But was it, really? America, like every bit of land around the world, has been settled, unsettled and resettled many times in history. In Israel, that contested dirt is also claimed by many; but what does the Bible say about it? Is it all that special? And if Israel dares to claim long-standing and actually eternal ownership and try to prevent its own annihilation, well that’s unacceptable. When it comes to “judging” others, subjectively speaking, people have strong opinions on what that should look like. If a believer is making a discernment call about a certain movement or belief system, one that touches close to someone’s heart, they sometimes lash out with “judge not!” As believers, we have no desire or authority to condemn someone eternally, in judgment that belongs to God alone. But the unbeliever doesn’t, cannot, rightly divide that. We don’t know anyone’s heart. But if we further subdivide this topic, some believers don’t even want to hear a discerning thought, biblically based, on why certain teachings or ideologies are truly wrong – and they tie believers’ hands who really do understand the difference between right and almost right.
