Lucas and Luna sit on a worn leather sofa in a startup loft, whiteboard sketches of growth curves behind them, and talk about the messy work of building a company from zero. Each episode picks a single founder's journey — from garage prototype to Series A, or from pivot to shutdown — and reconstructs the decisions that mattered. Lucas, with a journalist's instinct for the uncomfortable question, presses on the numbers: the seed round that closed at a 28% discount to later valuation, the burn rate that forced a layoff, the customer acquisition cost that took eighteen months to drop below lifetime value. Luna, an entrepreneur herself, pushes back with the human side: the co-founder who walked out, the product-market fit that arrived only after three failed launches, the term sheet they almost signed but didn't. Together, they dissect pitch decks, cap tables, and board dynamics without the usual startup cheerleading. This is not a show about unicorns — it's about the 80-hour weeks, the ne

How Notion Built a Product-Led Growth Machine
Aug 21, 20265 minS4
In this episode of Startup Stories, Lucas and Luna dig into how Notion turned a niche productivity tool into a household name without a traditional sales team. They trace the journey from early developer-focused days to the template gallery that became a viral growth engine, and break down the famous $10 million ARR milestone that caught Silicon Valley's attention. They explore the psychology of the blank page, the role of community-built templates, and how Notion's freemium model converts curious users into paying customers. Along the way, they draw lessons for any founder building a product-led growth strategy: the power of a single viral loop, the importance of design as a differentiator, and why listening to power users beats chasing every feature request. With a mix of tactical insights and big-picture thinking, this episode offers a masterclass in turning a tool into a platform. Plus, a brief note on how listener support keeps the show ad-free. #Notion #ProductLedGrowth #PLG #StartupStories #Business #SaaS #Freemium #ViralLoop #TemplateGallery #CommunityLedGrowth #IvanZhao #Craftsmanship #BlankPage #GrowthStrategy #ProductDesign #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #StartupLessons Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Rippling Built an All-in-One HR Platform Without Burning Cash
Aug 20, 20269 minS4
In this episode, we look at how Rippling took on the crowded HR software market by focusing on a single, elegant insight: automate the employee lifecycle, not just the paperwork. We trace the company's early decision to build a unified system for payroll, benefits, and devices, and how that vertical integration became its moat. We also examine the role of founder Parker Conrad's previous experience with Zenefits, the controversial 'one system, one source of truth' philosophy, and how Rippling's sales model differs from traditional enterprise software. With a practical angle, we break down the unit economics of Rippling's growth, the importance of net revenue retention, and what other founders can learn about sequencing product launches. By August 2026, Rippling has quietly become one of the most valuable private companies in the space, and we explore the decisions that got it there without the typical burn-and-churn playbook. #Rippling #ParkerConrad #HRSoftware #StartupGrowth #VerticalIntegration #UnitEconomics #NetRevenueRetention #B2BSaaS #FounderLedSales #Zenefits #EmployeeLifecycle #PayrollAutomation #DeviceManagement #Business #Entrepreneurship #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #StartupStories Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of Startup Stories, Lucas and Luna dig into how GitLab became the world's largest all-remote company, with over 2,000 people in 65 countries and no physical headquarters. They trace the journey from a single developer's side project to a public company, focusing on the radical transparency of the public handbook and the async-first culture that made it work. Along the way, they discuss the early decisions—like open-sourcing the code and documenting everything—that turned a niche tool into a platform. Lucas and Luna also explore the trade-offs: the loneliness of remote work, the challenges of onboarding, and how GitLab's model influences the broader shift to hybrid work. Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
