How to Build a Clinic That Doesn't Depend on You | Rick Mayo
Sep 22, 20261 hourS1
Scaling a clinic isn't just about opening more locations. The systems, people, and processes that make a single clinic successful can become the very things that prevent it from growing. If the business depends on the owner or a few key practitioners, growth eventually hits a wall. Rick Mayo, Founder and CEO of Alloy Personal Training, has spent more than three decades navigating that exact problem. He shares how he rebuilt his business after a major setback, turned individual expertise into repeatable systems, created consistent customer experiences, built a scalable hiring process, and transitioned from practitioner to entrepreneur. In This Episode, You'll Learn Why going from one clinic to multiple locations requires an entirely different business model How to turn individual expertise into systems that other practitioners can consistently execute Why consistent customer experience can matter more than giving every practitioner complete autonomy How to recruit great clinicians and employees by treating hiring like customer acquisition How to recognize when you're trying to fix the wrong employee instead of finding the right one Why successful scaling requires learning to operate comfortably in uncertainty and discomfort This episode is for clinicians, therapists, coaches, and practice owners who want to grow their business without becoming its biggest bottleneck. Sep 15, 202617 minS1

When clinicians chase symptoms without understanding the nervous system, movement, force distribution, and load, they can miss the factors actually driving the problem. Sep 8, 20261h 9mS1

The Hidden Cost of Becoming an Expert | Thomas Plummer
Sep 1, 20261h 13mS1
Experience is supposed to make you better, but it can also make you rigid and blind to what has changed. The real risk isn't a lack of knowledge; it's becoming so attached to what worked before that you stop seeing what people actually need now. Thomas Plummer has spent five decades in the fitness industry helping professionals, coaches, and business owners recognize patterns, challenge their assumptions, communicate more effectively, and reinvent themselves before experience becomes a liability. In this conversation, he breaks down why great speakers aren't "natural," how emotion drives behaviour more effectively than information, why honest feedback is essential for growth, and why the most important question you can ask yourself is: What do you actually want? In This Episode, You'll Learn Why experience becomes dangerous when you stop questioning what you know How to recognize the patterns that separate true expertise from simply accumulating hours How to communicate difficult feedback without destroying someone's confidence How to stay present, keep evolving, and leave your career and relationships better than you found them This episode is for clinicians, coaches, trainers, speakers, business owners, and high performers who want to stay effective, relevant, and adaptable as their careers evolve. Simple Training Still Works. We Just Stopped Selling It | Dan John
Aug 25, 20261h 9mS1
The fitness industry has never had more information, yet most people are still getting weaker, less active, and increasingly confused about what actually works. The biggest problem isn't a lack of exercises, research, or technology β it's losing sight of the simple fundamentals that work for decades. Dan John has spent more than 40 years coaching athletes and everyday people, competing at an elite level, and watching fitness trends come and go. In this conversation, he breaks down how to separate useful training from noise, how to train for longevity, and why the best program is often the one you can keep doing for years. In This Episode, You'll Learn Why most fitness trends are simply old ideas repackaged β and how to identify what actually lasts How to define "functional training" based on the outcome you need, not what an exercise looks like How coaches can stop designing exclusively for the top 1% and make the average athlete more capable Why small daily standards β walking, sleeping, lifting, and monitoring performance β can outperform extreme short-term programs This episode is for clinicians, strength coaches, performance professionals, athletes, and anyone who wants to stay strong, capable, and physically resilient for the long haul.
