What Are You Still Doing That You Shouldn't Be?
Send us Fan Mail Are you running a business… or some kind of business emergency service? As your business grows, your role should grow with it. But for a lot of business owners, that doesn't happen. You start out doing everything because you HAVE to. Then the clients come in, the revenue grows, perhaps you outsource or build a team… but somehow, you're still involved in bloody everything. And before you know it, you've become your business's busiest employee instead of its CEO. In this episode of Streamline & Shine , I'm talking about the difference between something that genuinely requires you and something that only needs you because that's how you've built the process . Because they're not the same thing. I'm also giving you a simple four-bucket exercise to work out what should actually stay on your plate: ONLY ME - the things that genuinely require your authority, expertise, judgement or relationships. TEACH IT - work somebody else could own if they were properly taught, given the context they need and trusted to get on with it. SYSTEMISE IT - repeatable work that could be handled by a process, checklist, template, workflow or automation instead of relying on your brain to remember it. FUCK IT - the stuff that doesn't need delegating or automating because, quite frankly, it doesn't need doing at all. We’ll talk about delegation, systems, client onboarding, decision-making, team ownership and why checking every tiny thing your team does isn't really delegation. And yes, we'll also discuss why spending 45 minutes in Canva choosing between two almost identical shades of black probably isn't the best use of the CEO's time. YOUR CHALLENGE For the next week, pay attention to what you're actually spending your time on. For each task, ask yourself: Does this genuinely require me, or have I built my business so that it needs me? Then put it into one of the four buckets: Only Me. Teach It. Systemise It. Fuck It. The goal isn't to become a CEO who does absolutely nothing. It's to stop being your business's busiest employee when half the things keeping you busy shouldn't belong to you in the first place.
