Sustainable Tourism: BS Marketing or Real Solution?
Dec 3, 202553 min
Is “sustainable tourism” a real path forward or just the travel industry’s favorite greenwashed buzzword? In this episode, Soleil sits down with sustainable tourism researcher and consultant Annie Combs , co-founder of ECPC Travel, to unpack what’s actually happening behind the marketing. Fresh off part one with Palauan climate advocate Ivory Vogt , we zoom out from island life to the global tourism system: who’s benefiting, who’s losing out, and how travelers can tell the difference between real sustainability and clever branding. You’ll learn:– What “sustainable tourism” should mean (vs. what companies say it means)– Why certifications often fail—and how they can work when done right– How to spot greenwashing in hotels, tours, and travel platforms– What local communities actually need from tourism– How your travel spending shapes destinations (for better or worse) By the end, we answer the big question: Is sustainable tourism brilliant… or bullshit? If you enjoyed this episode please leave a rating, review, and subscribe where you get your podcasts so you can continue to see the world a little clearer than you did before. The Truth About Tourism: An Inside Look with Ivory Vogt
Nov 19, 202550 min
In this powerful episode, climate and sustainable-travel expert Ivory Vogt takes us inside the real story of tourism in coastal and island communities like Palau. From the rising cost of living to water shortages, climate impacts, and cultural loss, Ivory breaks down how the global tourism economy can uplift and undermine local communities at the same time. We explore why places like Hawaiʻi, Mexico City, Barcelona, and Palau are seeing pushback against overtourism; how tourism leakage drains money away from local economies; and why Indigenous knowledge, languages, and cultural systems are essential to the planet’s future. Ivory also reveals how small island nations are fighting back—through ocean conservation, climate action, and community-led tourism strategies that put people first. You’ll learn: How tourism impacts coastal ecosystems , island economies , and local culture Why global travelers rarely see where their money actually goes The real stakes of overtourism , foreign-owned development , and climate pressure How island nations like Palau are reshaping tourism to protect nature and community What responsible, ethical, sustainable travel actually looks like Practical steps travelers can take to support the places they visit Whether you’re a frequent traveler, sustainability nerd, or someone trying to understand the complex relationship between paradise and prosperity, this episode will change how you see tourism forever. 🌊 Explore the Palau Sustainable Travel Guide and learn more about 'An Ocean Inheritance': https://www.seastoria.com/palau 🌴 Learn more about Ivory’s work: https://www.emeraldreamspalau.com/
Electric cars promise a clean-energy future, but if their batteries depend on dirty, fragile supply chains, is the EV revolution really as green as it seems? In this debut episode of Brilliant or BS , host Soleil Rain sits down with Brian Dillard , former head of battery R&D at VinFast and longtime battery industry veteran, to unpack the messy truth behind the EV boom. From lithium mines in Australia to gigafactories in China, we follow the global journey of a battery — exploring what’s brilliant about this technology, what’s pure BS, and what it means for the planet (and your next car). Along the way, Soleil and Brian break down: 🔋 What’s actually inside an EV battery 🌍 How the global supply chain works and who holds the power ♻️ Why recycling could make or break a clean future 💰 The role of government incentives and what “subsidies” really mean ⚠️ And how to separate genuine innovation from overhyped headlines So… are EVs brilliant or bullshit? Let’s find out. What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
