Luisyana Tequila Blanco Review: This Tequila Delivers!
Luisyana Tequila Blanco Review: This Tequila Delivers! What happens when a tequila's story, production, and flavor all come together in the glass? In this review, I take a closer look at Luisyana Tequila Blanco after sitting down with José Andres, one of the owners of Luisyana Tequila. We talked about his family's history, the story behind the brand, where the agave comes from, and how this tequila is made. Now it's time to see if the tequila actually backs up the story. Luisyana Tequila is made at NOM 1611 using Valley Agave. The agave is cooked in traditional stone ovens, crushed through a roller mill, and fermented in open tanks using wild yeast. After fermentation, the tequila is double distilled before making its way into the bottle. In this review, we explore: ✔ Luisyana Tequila Blanco ✔ José Andres and the story behind the brand ✔ Valley Agave and why it matters ✔ Traditional stone oven cooking ✔ Roller mill extraction ✔ Open fermentation with wild yeast ✔ Double distillation at NOM 1611 ✔ The difference between Valley and Highland Agave ✔ Cooked agave, minerality, pepper, herbal, citrus, and earthy flavors ✔ Luisyana's High Proof tequila ✔ My honest tasting notes and final thoughts The result is a tequila with cooked agave, earthy minerality, pepper, herbal and vegetal characteristics, citrus notes, and a balanced finish. One of the things I enjoy most about tequila is learning directly from the people behind the brands. Hearing José Andres explain his family's story and the decisions behind Luisyana makes tasting the tequila even more meaningful. Luisyana may still be difficult to find in the United States, but if you come across this tequila, it is one worth keeping an eye out for.
