The Obedience of Faith: Romans 15 and the Gospel as Royal Proclamation
Send us Fan Mail The gospel is not primarily an invitation. It is a royal proclamation. God has appointed his king over heaven and earth — and the call to every human being is not to add Jesus to their existing life but to stop serving everything else and submit to the one God has placed in authority. In this episode, Pastor Randy Johnson works through Romans 15, zeroing in on what Paul means when he describes his preaching as a priestly service — and what the obedience God calls the Gentiles to actually looks like. It is not obedience to the law of Moses. That would be going backwards. It is obedience to Christ, obedience to the Holy Spirit, obedience to what Paul elsewhere calls the Spirit of Grace. Randy also unpacks what salvation by works actually means — not just doing good things, but presenting your own effort to God as a substitute for what God has already provided. That's the definition. And it doesn't work because God has already set the standard, provided the means, and appointed the king. Grace is not just a state of being. Grace is a teacher — and what it teaches you is how to live. Key Scripture: Romans 15 Partner with Pastor Randy Visit Pastor Randy's website Ask Pastor Randy a question Watch Pastor Randy's videos
