The Building Doors Podcast is where women in voice-over take center stage, sharing their journeys, breaking barriers, and paving the way for future talent. This podcast amplifies women’s voices in an industry where male-centric genres —like sports promos and other traditionally male-dominated spaces —have long been the norm. Through personal stories, expert insights, and industry discussions, we’re creating opportunities and inspiring action. Each episode features female voice actors —our Door Builders —as they share how they got into voice-over , the challenges they’ve faced, and the dream clients they aspire to work with. We also bring you audio versions of our Instagram and LinkedIn Live events , covering powerful topics like mental health, building community, gender equality in sports, and voice-over genres more women should be pursuing . And as we grow, we may also feature sponsor spotlights , giving brands that support Building Doors a platform to share their services and their commitment to empowering women in voice-over . This isn’t just a podcast—it’s a movement. Whether you’re a voice actor at any stage of your career, a brand championing gender equality, or someone who believes in making space for all voices , this is the place for you. The Building Doors Podcast is for anyone in voice-over and anyone looking for a community that supports inclusion, opportunity, and breaking barriers . Tune in, be inspired, and start building doors.

Aug 6, 202629 min
What happens when a childhood fascination becomes your life's work? In this episode of the Building Doors Podcast, Christy Harst sits down with Nathan Klein, the youngest full-time Thoroughbred track announcer in North America. Diagnosed with autism, Nathan discovered his passion for calling horse races at just six years old and has turned that passion into an extraordinary career. Nathan shares how his unique perspective, incredible focus, and unwavering determination helped him overcome obstacles, earn opportunities at racetracks across the country, and land his dream job while still in his early twenties. Whether you're a voice actor, a sports fan, a parent, or someone pursuing an unconventional dream, Nathan's story is a powerful reminder that your differences can become your greatest strengths—and that the right door can change everything. Siân Fox & Alex Henderson: News from the other side of the pond.
Jul 29, 20261 hour
Alex and Siân, founders of Foxy Tongue Voices—a boutique voiceover agency out of Soho, London met with Christy to talk about how they are seeing the VO industry across the pond. Between them, they have over 20 years of casting and production experience, with clients including Rolex, Coca-Cola, Samsung, Mattel, and Kellogg's. We talked about AI fatigue, the rise of "quirky, imperfect" voices that sound undeniably human, the importance of ad-libs, and why being responsive matters more than ever. When the brief is wrong, it's not just about one audition—it's about the message it sends to every woman in the industry. Even the pros get got. This week on the Building Doors Podcast, VO veteran Natasha Marchewka joins me to talk about something nobody wants to admit happens to them: getting scammed. Natasha's been in this business a long time. She's smart. She's savvy. And a scammer still found a way in. She's telling the whole story, the red flags she looks back on now and wishes she'd caught, and exactly how she's changed her workflow so it doesn't happen again. If you book voice work online (so, all of us), you need to hear this one. Consider it a free audit of your own process. Jenn Sims & Ashton Teal: Authenticity Over Perfection
Jul 10, 202634 min
Jenn Sims and Ashton Teal—two working commercial voice actors who bring very different perspectives to the conversation. Jenn has more than 20 years of experience on both sides of the glass, having been an executive producer on the agency side before becoming a voice actor. Some of Ashton’s clients are Google, Amazon, and Hilton. We all make ourselves this question sometime in our career: Why aren't I booking? Jenn and Ashton break down the numbers game for us: an average casting director reviews 4,000+ per day! They share a few strategies to navigate the field of actually landing the job. The power of letting go of perfection, and ‘Authenticity’ as the watchword of 2026. Of course we talk about the AI elephant in the room, the uptick in requests for male voices, and why women MUST keep showing up. To a seasoned pro and someone just starting out, the advice is the same: keep auditioning, keep planting seeds, and keep building relationships. In this episode of the Building Doors Podcast, Christy Harst sits down with Allison Kwan, the Manager of Engagement and Belonging for the Cleveland Guardians—a title many organizations have cut, but Cleveland chose to keep. Allison shares what it's like to be the only woman in the room (and how she starts by getting the same haircut as the men), why she attended Guardians events for two years after being told "no" the first time she applied, and the power of seeing yourself in the stands. From the five "jewel events" that celebrate AAPI, Black, Latino, Pride, and disability communities, to the hot dog races where onion and spicy mustard and bacon are finally giving ketchup a run for his money—this conversation is about who gets seen, who gets heard, and who gets to belong. Because whether it's a baseball stadium or a voiceover booth, the question is the same: who's missing from this room? Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
