Episode 23 - Paul Attia (Self Mastery, Fatherhood and Living a Rich Life)
In Episode 23, Nick sits down with longtime friend Paul Attia for a conversation about self-mastery, fatherhood, and what it really means to live a rich life. Paul has a unique background. After studying psychology and competing as a Division I varsity athlete, he spent nearly 15 years as a litigator and criminal prosecutor before leaving law to help lead his family’s business through a challenging period of restructuring and succession. Today, he advises family enterprises across North America, helping leaders navigate the complicated intersection of business, relationships, decision-making, and human behaviour. He’s also a husband and father of five who has continued to prioritize his health, fitness, and personal growth while navigating the demands of family and business. Nick and Paul first met through BioSteel in 2012 and reconnect more than a decade later with a very different perspective on success. In this episode, they explore the challenges facing driven fathers, the importance of presence, raising resilient kids, maintaining your health through busy seasons of life, learning to say no, and the constant need to “cross-examine yourself.” They also tackle a bigger question: How do you pursue success without sacrificing the relationships, health, and experiences that make life worth living?
