The College 1020 Podcast with UNC's Dr. Christina Ruffatti, GOAL Program Executive Director
What does an inclusive college experience really look like? At the University of Northern Colorado, the Go On and Learn (GOAL) Program is helping answer that question every day. Designed for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the program provides an authentic college experience that combines academics, career exploration, and personal growth. Led by Dr. Christina Ruffatti, students enroll in 8 to 10 credit hours each semester, choosing courses that reflect their interests and long-term career goals. Learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through hands-on experiences, job tours, job-shadowing opportunities, and individualized support from GOAL Academic Coordinators, students create personalized learning plans that help them build confidence, develop workplace skills, and prepare for meaningful careers and independent lives.
