Each trading day, Lucas and Luna sit at a commodities-trading desk and examine the forces moving oil, gold, wheat, copper, and other raw material markets. They ground every conversation in the day's price action, inventory reports, weather patterns, geopolitical developments, and currency moves that drive supply and demand. Lucas brings the macro context — central bank policy shifts, manufacturing PMIs, and freight costs — while Luna presses on the micro: what a strike at a Chilean copper mine, a drought in the U.S. wheat belt, or a production cut by OPEC+ means for the actual contracts traded on exchanges. They avoid the noise of daily tick-by-tick commentary; instead, they identify the structural trends and inflection points that matter for investors, procurement officers, and anyone whose business depends on raw material prices. Together, they ask: is the current rally in gold a hedge against currency debasement or a speculative overhang? Are wheat futures pricing in a supply shock

Why Cotton Is the New Inflation Canary
Aug 21, 20267 minS4
Cotton prices jumped 5.4% in five days, hitting 88.60 cents per pound, even as the broader economy shows signs of cooling. In this episode, Lucas and Luna unpack why cotton — not oil or gold — might be the most telling commodity right now. They trace the rally from tight inventories and a smaller U.S. crop to weather disruptions in Texas and China's import appetite. They also weigh the impact of Ray Dalio's recent gold-and-bitcoin comments and the Treasury's bond gambit, which is stirring inflation worries. With CPI ticking up and breakeven inflation at 2.34%, cotton's move could be a signal that inflation isn't fully tamed. But is it a supply story or a macro one? Lucas and Luna dig into the numbers and the knotty question of whether this rally is sustainable. If you want to understand what cotton's surge says about the economy, this episode is your guide. #Cotton #Commodities #Inflation #Economics #RayDalio #Gold #Bitcoin #Treasury #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #CommodityMarkets #SupplyChain #CropForecast #ChinaImports #CPI #Breakeven #MarketSignals #TradingDesk Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Why Wheat and Corn Are Defying the Commodity Selloff
Aug 20, 20268 minS4
In late August 2026, wheat and corn futures are surging while oil and copper stall. This week, wheat is up 3.7 percent, corn up 8.1 percent, and cotton up 5.4 percent — while copper is down 1.8 percent. Lucas and Luna dig into the weather, the funds, and China's demand to explain why the grain complex is the surprise winner. They talk about how a cooler CPI hasn't cooled the wheat market, why corn's rally is tied to ethanol and the new refinery rules, and what the recent USDA numbers reveal about stockpiles. If you've been watching oil and gold, this is the story you're missing. #WheatFutures #CornFutures #CommoditiesMarket #GrainRally #AgEconomics #USDAReport #EthanolBlend #ChinaDemand #WeatherMarket #CopperSelloff #OilPrices #CommodityTrends #Economics #Investing #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #MarketAnalysis #AgriculturalCommodities Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of The Commodities Economy, Lucas and Luna dig into the biggest mover of the week: corn futures jumped 8.6 percent in five days, far outpacing wheat, soybeans, and even gold. They unpack the weather data, the export numbers, and the speculative positioning behind the spike, and ask whether this is a one-off event or the start of a longer rally. Along the way they touch on how the broader cooling economy with tame inflation readings is actually letting agricultural commodities run hot, and why that matters for food prices down the line. If you have ever wondered what moves the price of your tortilla or your steak, this episode walks you through the mechanics with real numbers and context. #CornFutures #AgriculturalCommodities #CommoditiesEconomy #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Economics #GrainMarkets #CommodityTrading #Inflation #FederalReserve #WeatherRisk #ExportDemand #SpeculativePositioning #FoodPrices #CommoditySpike #MarketAnalysis #CornRally #August2026 Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How a Cooling Economy Is Pushing Oil Toward Ninety Dollars
Aug 18, 20266 minS4
In this episode of The Commodities Economy, Lucas and Luna dive into the surprising strength of oil in August 2026. While economic data points to a slowdown — core CPI barely moved and the PCE price index is drifting down — crude has climbed 4 percent in five days, with Brent flirting with the ninety-dollar level. The hosts unpack the geopolitical spark: renewed tension in the Strait of Hormuz, and why markets are pricing a risk premium even as OPEC Plus raises output. They also look at the cross-currents in other commodities, from corn's 8.9 percent weekly pop to silver's slide, and what a rising ten-year breakeven inflation rate says about the market's narrative. If you've wondered why oil is defying the cooling economy, this episode gives you the three forces at work: geopolitics, supply expectations, and the dampening effect of a strong dollar. #OilPrices #CrudeOil #Brent #HormuzStrait #OPECPlus #GeopoliticalRisk #Inflation #CPI #PCE #Commodities #EnergyMarkets #Corn #Silver #EconomicSlowdown #Macroeconomics #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #CommoditiesEconomy Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
The Hidden Toll of Cocoa's Rally: Why Your Chocolate Bar Costs More
Aug 17, 20268 minS4
Cocoa futures have surged past $10,000 per ton in 2026, and the rally is rewriting the economics of chocolate. In this episode, Lucas and Luna unpack why cocoa prices are at historic highs, from West African supply shocks to the structural shift in how the market prices the bean. They break down the ripple effects: hedging costs for chocolate makers, the rise of 'shrinkflation' in candy aisles, and whether the era of cheap chocolate is over. With data from the latest CPI showing food inflation ticking up, they connect cocoa's trajectory to broader inflation trends and ask what it means for consumers and investors alike. A focused look at one commodity with big implications. #CocoaPrices #ChocolateInflation #CommoditiesMarket #SupplyChain #WestAfrica #CoteDIvoire #GhanaCocoa #Shrinkflation #CPI #Inflation #Hedging #FuturesMarket #FoodPrices #Economics #BusinessPodcast #FexingoBusiness #Podcast #CommodityTrading Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
