Lucas and Luna examine the mechanics behind how companies pay their people — not just salaries, but equity, bonuses, profit-sharing, and the increasingly contentious terrain of pay transparency. Each episode dissects a single compensation decision, from a tech giant's stock grant structure to a retailer's shift to transparent salary bands. Lucas studies proxy filings and compensation committee reports; Luna tests those numbers against public sentiment and hiring data. Together they ask: What does a 'competitive' offer actually look like across industries? Why do some bonus formulas reward retention while others reward performance? And when a company publishes its pay ranges, does that close gaps or create new ones? For compensation analysts, HR leaders, and employees negotiating their own total comp, the show turns abstract policies into concrete trade-offs — no endorsements, no prescriptions, just the numbers and their consequences.#PayTransparency #EquityCompensation #ExecutivePay #

On this episode of The Compensation Podcast, Lucas and Luna explore how pay equity legislation—beyond just transparency—is transforming total compensation packages in 2026. They dig into the EU Pay Transparency Directive's impact on bonus formulas, equity grants, and performance metrics, using a concrete example of a mid-sized German tech firm. The conversation covers the shift from salary-only audits to full total rewards reviews, the rise of 'equity scorecards' and 'pay equity impact statements,' and what this means for employees negotiating their comp. Lucas explains why companies are rethinking long-term incentive plans and how candidates can leverage pay equity data in interviews. Luna brings practical tips on reading total comp statements and spotting red flags in pay equity commitments. Tune in for a focused, actionable look at how equality mandates are changing the way your worth is calculated—and what you can do about it. #PayEquity #TotalCompensation #EUPaidTransparencyDirective #BonusFormulas #EquityGrants #LongTermIncentive #CompensationStrategy #CareerAdvice #SalaryNegotiation #HRTrends #WorkplaceFairness #PayTransparency #EquityAudit #TotalRewards #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Careers #CompensationPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Pay transparency isn't just about salary bands—it's exposing the 401k match, too. In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore a real-world case: a tech firm in Austin that, under new state pay transparency rules, had to disclose its full compensation package, including the 401k match. They break down how the match—often a percentage of salary with a vesting schedule—becomes a bargaining chip in negotiations, how employees are using it to compare total compensation across employers, and why some companies are quietly reducing matches to keep pay bands competitive. With specific numbers and practical insights, they explain how you can leverage your 401k match in your next job offer or annual review. If you've ever wondered whether your employer's match is actually good, this episode gives you the tools to find out. #PayTransparency #401kMatch #TotalCompensation #Negotiation #EmployeeBenefits #RetirementSavings #Compensation #Careers #Business #Finance #HR #SalaryBands #Vesting #JobOffer #Texas #Austin #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Pay transparency laws are reshaping more than just salaries — they're exposing the retirement match. In this episode, Lucas and Luna unpack how public pay bands are nudging companies to disclose their 401k matching formulas, and why that's a double-edged sword for employees. They dig into a recent survey showing that 42 percent of large employers now publish their match formula, up from 28 percent in 2024, and what that means for your total compensation. You'll learn how to read the fine print of a matching formula, why some companies use a 'safe harbor' match to dodge compliance headaches, and how the shift toward transparency could lead to more generous — or more complicated — benefits. Plus, a look at how one tech firm's decision to spotlight its 6 percent match backfired when employees realized the vesting schedule. If you're job hunting or negotiating a raise, this episode gives you the questions to ask about retirement benefits before you sign. #PayTransparency #401k #RetirementMatch #TotalCompensation #Benefits #HR #Compensation #EmployeeBenefits #Careers #Finance #Business #LucasAndLuna #TheCompensationPodcast #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #RetirementPlanning #JobSearch #Negotiation Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore how pay transparency laws have fundamentally changed the way employees ask for raises in 2026. Using the example of a marketing manager in Austin who used her company's published salary bands to make a data-backed case, they break down the new playbook for raise requests. They discuss why anchoring to internal bands matters more than external market data, the art of framing your contributions against the band's midpoint, and the timing tricks that increase success. The hosts also address the awkward reality of pay transparency: it exposes gaps but makes it harder to hide behind 'budget constraints'. They share practical scripts for opening the conversation, what to do when your manager says the band is 'sticky', and why the biggest risk is asking for a raise before you've built a bulletproof case. A must-listen for anyone negotiating comp in a transparent world. #PayTransparency #SalaryNegotiation #RaiseRequest #Compensation #CareerAdvice #SalaryBands #PayEquity #WorkplaceCulture #HumanResources #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #NegotiationSkills #LucasAndLuna #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Careers #Finance #Leadership Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
