Abraham’s oldest servant prayed to the Lord for the success of his mission, and he stood by the well of water at a time when the daughters of the men of the city were going to draw water– Gen. 24:13 . In answer to the servant’s prayer, a young woman by the name Rebekah showed up at the well to draw water– Gen. 24:15 . The servant asked her for water, through which he sought to establish IF she would meet the third and fourth thresholds, which she did– Gen. 24:18-20 . The servant then sought to establish whose daughter she was and through her response, she had met the first threshold i.e., she was from Abraham’s family– Gen. 24:4 . Later, the servant explained his mission to Rebekah’s family and when they gave consent, he worshiped the Lord before bringing out specific items which he gave her on the one side and her brother and mother on the other– Gen. 24:52-53 . Christians drawing deeply from the well of God’s Word will NOT receive external ornaments and/or items like Rebekah did. God the Father has blessed faithful Christians like Rebekah with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ– Eph. 1:1-3 . These spiritual blessings have an end-goal i.e., regality– Eph. 1:4-5 . These spiritual blessings are accessible to any Christian who is willing to draw deeply from the well of God’s Word– Eph. 1:13-14 . Paul had a longing to see the brethren in Rome with the intention of imparting to them some spiritual gift, a reference to the very gospel of the Christ which he would proclaim among them, through which they would be established in the faith– Rom. 1:11-12, 16 . It is in the Word of God that Christians will find a record of good works prepared by God for them to perform– Eph. 2:10 . Good works are works done in the Spirit and they constitute works of gold, silver and precious stones. Christians performing such works which endure when tested by fire, will receive a reward– 1 Cor. 3:11-15 . ‘Bad’ works are works done apart from the Spirit (i.e., works done in the flesh) and they constitute works of wood, hay and straw. Christians performing such works which burn when tested by fire, will suffer loss i.e., the loss of their souls– Matt. 16:26 .
