Two co-hosts, Lucas and Luna, sit at a quiet call-centre desk and examine the economics of customer retention. Each episode takes a single company's real service data — churn rates, Net Promoter Scores, average handle time, first-contact resolution — and asks whether the numbers tell a story of loyalty or leakage. Lucas, a journalist trained to interrogate corporate claims, pushes for the raw numbers behind slogans like 'customer obsession' and 'relationship banking'. Luna, an engaged interlocutor with a background in operations, tests those numbers against frontline reality: What happens when a chatbot deflects a complaint? When a loyalty programme rewards spending but not tenure? When a return policy is generous to the point of margin erosion? Together they trace the tension between cost efficiency and genuine service quality, using cases from retailers, airlines, telecoms, and SaaS providers. How Customer Service Can Build a Second-Purchase Habit Without Discounts
Aug 18, 202610 minS4
In this episode of The Customer Service Podcast, Lucas and Luna explore how customer service teams can drive repeat purchases without resorting to discounts. They dive into the psychology of habit formation, the role of post-purchase service moments, and the surprising impact of a simple 'next step' suggestion. Using the example of a coffee subscription service that increased second-purchase rates by 30 percent just by changing the tone of its follow-up email, the hosts discuss practical tactics like the 'habit loop' in customer service, the power of consistency, and how to avoid the 'discount trap.' They also touch on the importance of measuring the right metrics, like time-to-second-purchase, and how service interactions can be designed to create natural triggers for repeat buying. Tune in for a concrete, actionable conversation that moves beyond theory and into what actually works. #CustomerService #Retention #Loyalty #SecondPurchase #HabitLoop #PostPurchaseService #CoffeeSubscription #DiscountTrap #CustomerExperience #BehavioralEconomics #RepeatPurchase #ServiceStrategy #CustomerLoyalty #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ServiceQuality #Podcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
When did customer service surveys become a proxy for actual service? In this episode, Lucas and Luna unpack the dark side of the ubiquitous post-call survey, from the 'five or fail' mentality that drives agents to beg for perfect scores, to the silent majority of unhappy customers who never fill out the form. Through the lens of a telecom provider's botched rollout and retail giant's quiet shift to transactional feedback, they explore why survey scores often lie, how they distort agent behavior, and what leading companies are doing instead: from micro-surveys at the moment of service to AI-driven sentiment analysis and proactive outreach. Tune in to discover why the best metric might be the one you never ask for, and how to build a feedback loop that actually retains customers. #CustomerSurveys #NetPromoterScore #ServiceQuality #RetentionStrategy #VoiceOfCustomer #SurveyFatigue #CustomerFeedback #AgentBehavior #SentimentAnalysis #TelecomCase #RetailCase #ProactiveService #Business #CustomerExperience #CX #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #ChurnPrevention Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How to Measure the Voice of the Customer in Service
Aug 16, 202612 minS4
In this episode of The Customer Service Podcast, Lucas and Luna explore the art of measuring the voice of the customer in a way that actually drives retention. Lucas shares a concrete lesson from a regional airline that used post-flight surveys to uncover a recurring issue with baggage handling, and how they turned a vague complaint into a measurable metric that reduced churn. The hosts discuss the difference between transactional and relational feedback, why customer effort score is a better predictor than satisfaction, and how to act on the data without drowning in it. They also touch on the importance of closing the loop with customers who take the time to share their thoughts. Packed with practical examples and a dose of realism, this episode gives you a framework to turn voice-of-customer data into a retention superpower. #VoiceOfCustomer #CustomerFeedback #RetentionStrategy #CustomerLoyalty #CustomerService #CustomerEffortScore #ChurnReduction #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Podcast #ServiceQuality #CX #CustomerExperience #DataDriven #AirlineCaseStudy #FeedbackLoop #Measurement Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How to Handle the Angry Caller Without Losing Your Cool
Aug 15, 20269 minS4
In this episode of The Customer Service Podcast with Fexingo, hosts Lucas and Luna dive into the art of de-escalating angry customer calls. They explore the psychology behind why customers get hostile, the science of emotional contagion, and practical techniques like reflective listening and the 'name it to tame it' method. Using the example of a telecom provider that cut call duration by 20 percent by training agents to acknowledge emotions first, they show how empathy isn't just nice—it's measurable. They also discuss the fine line between empathy and agreement, why some anger is legitimate feedback, and how to protect your own mental health after a brutal call. If you've ever dreaded picking up the phone, this episode gives you a toolkit to turn hostility into problem-solving. Tune in for concrete strategies that work in the real world, not just in training manuals. #CustomerService #DeEscalation #AngryCallers #EmotionalIntelligence #Empathy #ConflictResolution #CallCenter #Retention #CustomerExperience #ActiveListening #PsychologicalSafety #AgentWellbeing #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Podcast #ServiceQuality #Loyalty Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore how the Zeigarnik effect can transform customer service retention. They dive into why unresolved issues stick in customers' minds, how to use strategic follow-ups to keep your brand top-of-mind, and the fine line between helpful persistence and annoying pestering. With a concrete example from a fictional online retailer, they discuss how to create 'open loops' that draw customers back, and how to close them at the right moment to build loyalty. Learn practical tactics like the 'ticket to newsletter' pivot and the 'double opt-out' safety valve to ensure your service team turns every interaction into a reason to return. If you've ever wondered why some companies seem to 'get' you after a single call, this episode unpacks the psychology behind that feeling and how to apply it in your own customer service strategy. #ZeigarnikEffect #CustomerService #Retention #CustomerLoyalty #PsychologyInBusiness #OpenLoops #CustomerExperience #FollowUp #BusinessPsychology #ServiceQuality #ChurnReduction #CustomerRetention #LoyaltyLoop #ServiceStrategy #MarketingPsychology #Business #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
