Lucas and Luna dissect the day's market action from their trading workstation, analyzing intraday price patterns, volume surges, and order-flow signals that shape short-term trades. Each episode is anchored in real-time data—candlestick formations, VWAP deviations, and sector rotations—with the co-hosts debating entry and exit points on specific equities, ETFs, and futures. Lucas brings a journalistic rigour to chart interpretation, while Luna challenges his reads with alternative technical setups and risk-management heuristics. Together, they examine how macroeconomic releases, Fed statements, and earnings surprises cascade into 15-minute chart moves. The conversation is fast, precise, and grounded in named tickers and exact percentages—no vague market commentary. Regular segments deconstruct a single trade idea from setup to execution, comparing tape-reading clues with algorithm-generated signals. Listeners who actively manage their own portfolios will find a methodical framework for

Episode #159
Reading the August Lull in a Falling VIX
Aug 18, 20268 minS4
On Episode 159 of The Day Trading Podcast, Lucas and Luna dig into the late-August tape: the S&P 500 sits at 7,692, down about 0.7 percent over five sessions, while the VIX has climbed 8.9 percent to 15.84. That combination, they argue, is a classic signal that the quiet summer grind is starting to crack. Using the recent bounce in the VVIX and the pullback in small caps, they walk through how day traders can reposition when volatility starts to firm up after weeks of complacency. They talk about why a rising VIX doesn't always mean a falling market, how to read the relationship between the VIX and the VVIX, and why the current setup favors a more defensive, lower-leverage approach. The conversation closes with a practical checklist for the next few sessions. No jargon, no hype—just a clear-eyed look at what the tape is telling us right now. #DayTrading #VIX #MarketVolatility #AugustTape #SmallCaps #TradingStrategy #Finance #Investing #StockMarket #Options #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #TradingPodcast #MarketSignals #VolatilityIndex #VVIX #EquityMarkets #ActiveTrading Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
The pre-market tape is noisy, but a few specific signals cut through the chaos. In this episode of The Day Trading Podcast with Fexingo, Lucas breaks down how to read pre-market volume, price levels, and the VIX's subtle moves to build a plan before the bell. He uses the example of a stock like Workday gapping on news versus a slow drift in a name like Intel, and explains why the first fifteen minutes often punish traders who don't respect the auction. Luna chimes in with a practical tip on using pre-market range extremes as a filter for entries. They also look at the broader tape on August 17, 2026, where the S&P 500 sits near 7,745 and the VIX at 15.19, and talk about what that calm backdrop means for gap-and-go setups. If you've ever stared at pre-market charts and felt overwhelmed, this episode gives you a clear framework to start with. On this episode of The Day Trading Podcast, Lucas and Luna unpack why small caps are suddenly outperforming the S&P 500 — the Russell 2000 is up 1.7% over the past five days while the Dow slipped half a percent. They drill into the breadth behind that move: how many small-cap stocks are actually participating, what that means for day traders, and how to trade the rotation without getting faked out. They also talk about why the VIX at 14.25 and a falling VVIX suggest complacency, and what that means for your intraday risk. Plus, they share a few concrete signals — like watching for breakouts above the 50-day moving average on the Russell — and why you should care about the number of new 52-week highs versus lows. If you're a short-term trader trying to read the tape in a quiet August, this episode gives you a practical framework for spotting genuine small-cap strength versus a dead-cat bounce. #SmallCaps #Russell2000 #DayTrading #BreadthSignal #MarketRotation #VIX #VVIX #TradingStrategy #StockMarket #ActiveTrading #TechnicalAnalysis #MomentumTrading #Finance #Investing #Podcast #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #TradingEducation Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode, Lucas and Luna break down one of the quietest but most telling signals on the tape right now: the Russell 2000's one-point-seven percent five-day gain while the Dow slipped half a percent. They explain what small-cap relative strength means for day traders, how to trade the rotation without chasing, and why the VIX at fourteen-point-two-five is the perfect backdrop for this kind of move. They walk through specific setups—like buying early strength in financials and avoiding the trap of late-day breakouts—and discuss how to use the iShares Russell 2000 ETF ticker I-W-M as your execution vehicle. By the end, you'll know exactly how to read the breadth signal and whether today's small-cap push is worth your attention or just a head fake. #DayTrading #Russell2000 #SmallCaps #BreadthSignal #VIX14 #MarketRotation #TradingStrategy #IWM #StockMarket #Finance #Investing #TechnicalAnalysis #TradingPsychology #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Podcast #TradingTips #MarketAnalysis Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
On this episode of The Day Trading Podcast with Fexingo, Lucas and Luna explore what the mid-August calm actually signals for active traders. With the S&P 500 hovering at 7,786 and the VIX slipping to 14.25, they break down how to interpret low-volatility conditions when the tape feels quiet—and why that quiet can be its own setup. They discuss the Russell 2000's recent 1.7 percent weekly gain as a possible rotation signal, and how the VIX's drop below 15 while the VVIX holds above 80 suggests complacency is building. The hosts share practical chart-reading techniques for spotting breakouts and false breakouts in thin summer conditions, and they talk about position sizing when implied volatility is low. If you've ever wondered whether a quiet tape means 'do nothing' or 'get ready,' this episode gives you a concrete framework for reading the signals that matter. #DayTrading #TradingStrategies #VIX #MarketVolatility #Russell2000 #S&P500 #TechnicalAnalysis #ChartReading #SummerTrading #QuietTape #OptionsTrading #PositionSizing #Finance #Investing #ActiveTrading #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #TradingPsychology Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
