S2-E56: How Great Contractors Connect With Great Customers Featuring Drew Ainscough of Incline Marketing
Aug 12, 202656 min
Eric and Drew talk about the intersection of craftsmanship and digital strategy. The discussion highlights the limitations of platforms like Yelp, where strict review policies can hinder a business's reputation, and emphasizes the complexity of Google's advertising ecosystem. Ainscough explains how businesses can optimize their sales funnels by integrating social media presence with targeted performance campaigns to capture high-quality leads. Triplet shares personal anecdotes about maintaining a culture of care and using the "131 technique" to empower employees to solve customer problems independently. Key Takeaways: Adopt the "1-3-1" problem-solving method by defining one specific problem, identifying three potential solutions, and recommending the single best course of action. Write handwritten thank-you notes to express authentic appreciation and build memorable, long-term personal or professional relationships. Evaluate online business reviews critically by reading individual write-ups and checking the reviewer's profile to see if they are a habitually angry reviewer. Prompt artificial intelligence to challenge you by asking it to focus on realistic constraints and ask you the hard questions you might not be thinking about. Prioritize direct human connection by picking up the phone to talk to people rather than relying entirely on digital forms or automated systems. Gareth Scott, the founder of Real Reef Rock , talks with Eric during the LA Pet Fair. The conversation highlights how the company developed a sustainable, man-made alternative to harvesting live rock from natural coral reefs, which was once the industry standard. Scott explains the transition from importing Tonga branch rock to manufacturing calcium-based substrates in the USA to prevent environmental degradation and the spread of aquarium pests. The episode covers the technical aspects of their aquaculture process, including how they achieve a purple coralline aesthetic and ensure biological stability. Key Takeaways: Opt for sustainably manufactured alternatives to protect natural habitats: Choose responsibly made materials rather than harvesting wild rocks from natural ocean reefs to help preserve delicate ecosystems. Select clean, pre-treated materials to avoid introducing unwanted pests: Use aquarium products that have been properly leached and stabilized to prevent issues like invasive hair algae, pests, and chemical instability. Establish your biological systems with precise, quantifiable starters: Use bottled bacteria when setting up a new system to ensure a predictable, healthy starting baseline instead of guessing what wild organisms survived transport. Utilize modular design pieces to customize your layout: Take advantage of sized, interlocking structures to build creative, personalized setups that maximize open space and flow. Overcome resistance to innovation to make your hobbies more enjoyable: Keep an open mind toward modern product alternatives that solve historical pain points and simplify your day-to-day maintenance. S2-E54: Building a Business You Can Sell vs. Owning a Job
Aug 3, 202642 min
Eric and Mike Garvey discuss the essential transition from simply owning a job to building a scalable business that can eventually be sold. They contrast their professional backgrounds, highlighting how strategic systems and team empowerment allow an entrepreneur to step away from daily labor while maintaining a profitable legacy. The conversation emphasizes the importance of high-level coaching and standard operating procedures to overcome common growth plateaus and avoid management burnout. By focusing on employee development and clear career ladders, they argue that business owners can foster a loyal culture that supports long-term expansion. Key Takeaways: Focus on building a business that can operate independently rather than simply owning a high-risk job. Implement a clear growth path for employees to ensure they see a long-term future and remain committed to the company. Seek out high-level coaching to identify blind spots and help scale the business past difficult growth plateaus. Prioritize systems and standard operating procedures so that the brand's success is not entirely dependent on the owner's physical presence. Develop an exit strategy early by creating a business model that is attractive to either outside investors or long-term internal team members. S2-E53: Can Fish Really Fight Depression? Special Guest Evan Johnson
Jul 31, 202654 min
Evan Johnson, the founder of the nonprofit Ivan the Angelfish , shares how he provides natural aquariums to senior living facilities to combat depression and isolation among residents and staff. He cites specific research showing that observing fish can significantly lower stress hormones and improve mental health metrics like the PHQ-9 survey. Beyond the scientific benefits, the conversation highlights Evan's entrepreneurial journey and his focus on expanding his mission across several countries. Key Takeaways: Incorporate aquariums or natural elements into your living and work spaces to help lower stress and improve your overall mood. Follow your genuine curiosity and compassion to discover a meaningful purpose that serves others in your community. Support the next generation of leaders by believing in their vision and providing them with opportunities to grow. Adopt a persistent mindset where you view rejection as a necessary stepping stone toward reaching a positive outcome. Use shared interests in nature, such as gardening or fishkeeping, to create stronger bonds and regular connections with your family members. S2-E52: The Cost of Being the Face of the Brand with Mike Garvey
Jul 27, 202640 min
Eric and Mike Garvey from The Side Hustle Squad Podcast discuss the complexities of scaling a company when the founder serves as the primary personal brand. He recounts how his business, The Pond Digger, evolved from a solo identity into a team-oriented culture by intentionally highlighting his employees' diverse personalities. Triplett emphasizes that while being the face of a brand builds initial trust, it can eventually create a bottleneck if customers only want to work with the owner. The conversation explores strategies for succession and growth, such as introducing co-hosts or using timeless mascots to ensure the business can thrive independently. Key Takeaways: Intentionally transition trust from yourself to your team members so the business can scale beyond your personal involvement. Develop diverse personalities within your organization to help your brand connect with a broader range of potential clients. Focus on building a professional team culture that delivers consistent quality without requiring your physical presence on every job site. Consider creating a timeless or abstract visual brand identity to prevent your business's image from being tied to the aging process of a single person. Protect your personal time and boundaries by establishing professional communication channels instead of giving out your personal contact information to every client. Every question we get asked before someone starts their trial.
If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
