Things You Don't Fuck With month is in full swing and Talk to Me fits very nicely into this month. With a modern take on seances and almost comparing the possession to a high, this film has a very unique take on demon possession. This is the full-length feature directorial debut of the Philippou brothers, and they deliver with an original concept that has shocking moments. They're able to successfully bridge prior family trauma and the desire to speak to a loved one who has passed on in a creative way, where this is often poorly executed in horror. The film stars Olivia Cooke in a very familiar horror movie where a group of friends experience loss and look to communicate with their dead friend through a Ouija board. Unfortunately, in looking to communicate with their close friend, they contact a spirit that isn't so friendly. The Monkey is first up in Things You Don't Fuck With month and it's very fitting because the one thing that twin brothers, Bill and Hal, mess around with in this movie is a toy monkey. This Osgood Perkins adaptation of Stephen King's short story, stars Theo James in a movie that has a lot of dark humor along with crazy deaths that follow the use of a toy monkey.   After a young girl is found dead in a dammed-up lake, strange occurrences start to happen around the family's home. Lake Mungo , the eerie Australian Indie found footage film, is the final movie we're discussing in Haunted Water month. Although this movie may struggle with pacing, the grainy aspects of the footage captured combined with the family trauma create such a haunting vibe that really stays with the viewer. The atmosphere is bleak and sad all the way through. The acting is excellent and the way Alice's character is portrayed is different from other ghost movies. As they're forced to hop aboard a convenient ship that rescues them, they soon encounter a bizarre set of events. Triangle stars Melissa George and is a psychological thriller that takes five friends out to sea and on a course they'll never forget. This film may divide audiences as it has sci-fi elements of time loops, but has a very intriguing mystery.
