Episode #16
Wise Work with Dorcas Cheng--Tozun
Mike chats with activist and author of * Social Justice for the Sensitive Soul: How to Change the World in Quiet Ways*, Dorcas Cheng-Tozen, about letting our wounds infuse our work with wisdom—by doing that work sustainably. They explore the overwhelming impact of the hurt of the world, that either leaves us thinking we can’t make a difference, or contributes to “the activist ideal” that tricks us into thinking we have to give every last drop of our blood, sweat, and tears to save the world by ourselves. They discuss how those most sensitive to the pain of others are the most driven to join the fight for justice and essential to the work of healing, but *sensitive souls* are often also the most at risk to burn up and burnt out. Finally they ask us to reconsider what it means to do our work and let it be enough, as our individual part of the many different creative contributions it takes to make a difference in the world!
