Ep 10 - How to Build an "Expensive Looking" Wardrobe on a Budget
Jul 30, 202616 min
A tight wardrobe budget doesn't mean buying the cheapest clothes you can find. It means shopping with intention. In this episode, I'm sharing the exact strategy I use with my one-on-one VIP styling clients to build elevated wardrobes without wasting money. Whether your wardrobe budget is $3,000 or $30,000, the principles are exactly the same: know what you're looking for, spend strategically and make every purchase count. If you've ever felt like building your dream wardrobe is out of reach because of your budget, this episode will completely change the way you think about shopping. This episode is for you if... You're tired of buying clothes that never get worn, feel overwhelmed every time you shop, or want your wardrobe to look more elevated without spending a fortune. In 2026, your personal brand image isn't optional. In this episode, I'm unpacking why your image has become one of your most powerful marketing assets—and why it's no longer enough to simply be good at what you do. In today's world, people make decisions about who they trust, hire and remember long before they've read your résumé or heard you speak. I'll also share the conversation that inspired this episode: a woman preparing to share the stage with the CEO of Google who asked me whether luxury brands would dress her for free. My answer surprised her—and it reveals one of the biggest misconceptions people have about personal brand and influence. This episode is for you if.. . You're building a business, growing your career or stepping into bigger opportunities and want to be taken seriously. If you've ever wondered whether your image really matters—or whether it's worth investing in your personal brand—this episode will change the way you think about how opportunities are created. In this episode, I'm talking about visibility and what it really costs you to stay invisible in your business, career and life. Because visibility isn't just posting on social media or being the loudest person in the room. It's choosing to be seen, heard and known for what you do. I'm sharing a conversation from a recent coaching call that sparked this entire episode, my own very messy journey of learning to show up on camera, and why waiting until you feel confident, polished or "ready" is one of the fastest ways to stay exactly where you are. Because you don't get to your dream by watching other people and waiting until you're ready. You get there by doing. This episode is for you if... You've been holding yourself back because you're scared of getting it wrong, being judged or looking like you don't know what you're doing. Whether you're building a business, growing your personal brand, going for a promotion or simply know it's time to put yourself out there, this episode is your reminder to stop waiting for perfect and start showing up. In this episode, we talk about: • The coaching conversation that inspired this episode • What visibility actually means beyond social media • How visibility looks different in business, corporate, leadership and everyday life • Why staying invisible always has a cost • The deeper fear behind being seen and heard • Why nobody has it all figured out — even the people you admire • The difference between people who move forward and people who stay stuck • Why you have to tell people you're the obvious choice • How visibility communicates your intentions to the world • Why I thought my 19-year career and résumé would speak for itself • The social media strategist who forced me to start showing my face online • My first terrifying experience talking to camera • Why English being my second language made visibility even harder for me • The criticism I received when I first started showing up online • Why repetition — not confidence — is what made showing up easier • How to start again when you've lost momentum or gone quiet • Why imperfect action is the only way forward Episode Chapters 00:00 Everyone You Admire Is Doing It Scared 01:30 The Coaching Call That Inspired This Episode 03:00 What Visibility Actually Means 05:08 The Cost of Staying Invisible 06:15 Nobody Has It All Figured Out 07:15 You Have to Tell People You're the Obvious Choice 08:00 Visibility Is Telling the World Your Intentions 08:30 Why I Thought My Résumé Would Speak for Itself 09:15 The Social Media Strategist Who Forced Me on Camera 09:59 My First Face-to-Camera Video — and Why I Cried 11:00 Why I Kept Going Despite the Criticism 11:45 You Don't Get to Your Dream by Watching Other People 12:30 What to Do When You Lose Momentum 13:15 Visibility Doesn't Mean Being Perfect 14:00 The Real Cost of Staying Hidden 14:45 Fight for Your Dreams by Being Visible Join The Style Shop (Waitlist) Ready to turn inspiration into action? What if the deadline you've been waiting for never actually arrives? In this episode, I'm challenging one of the biggest beliefs that keeps women stuck: "I'll lose the weight first… then I'll invest in my style." After nearly 20 years of working with women, I've seen how often style becomes a reward for reaching a certain number on the scales. But what if feeling good in what you wear isn't the reward? What if it's actually the starting point? In this episode, I'll unpack where this belief comes from, why waiting is costing you more than you realise, and most importantly, I'll give you a practical plan to build a wardrobe that works for the body you're in today — not the body you're hoping for someday. This episode is for you if... You've been putting off investing in your wardrobe because you're waiting to lose weight, or you've ever felt like you need to "earn" the right to feel stylish. If you're ready to stop waiting and start feeling confident in the body you have today, this episode will give you both a new perspective and a practical plan to move forward. In this episode, we talk about: • Why so many women believe they need to lose weight before investing in their style • Where this belief comes from and why it's often not your own • The hidden cost of waiting for the "perfect" body • Why confidence doesn't come after weight loss — it starts with how you feel today • How to find style inspiration for your current body • What "waiting to lose weight" actually looks like inside your wardrobe • Why holding onto clothes that no longer fit can keep you emotionally stuck • My simple archive method for sentimental and "just in case" clothing • How to create a realistic deadline for letting go of clothes that no longer serve you • The 10-outfit wardrobe strategy I recommend to clients • How just nine carefully chosen pieces can create 27 outfit combinations • Why great lingerie is one of the most overlooked wardrobe investments • The simple action plan you can start implementing today Episode Chapters 00:00 What If You Never Lose the Weight? 01:45 The Client Message That Inspired This Episode 03:15 Why Women Wait Before Investing in Their Style 04:59 Where This Belief Really Comes From 06:45 Why Confidence Doesn't Start With Weight Loss 08:00 What Waiting Looks Like in Your Wardrobe 09:36 Why It's Time to Let Go of Clothes That No Longer Fit 11:00 My Archive Method for Sentimental Clothing 12:15 Setting a Realistic Deadline for Your "Goal Clothes" 14:04 The 10-Outfit Action Plan 15:15 How Nine Pieces Create 27 Outfit Combinations 16:30 Why Great Lingerie Changes Everything 17:15 Your Next Step Starts Today Join The Style Shop (Waitlist) Ready to turn inspiration into action? Ep 5 - The Cost of Blending In: Why You Can't Build Visibility While Trying to Remain Invisible
Jun 16, 202618 minS0

In today's episode, I'm talking about the cost of blending in and why so many brilliant women unintentionally make themselves invisible.

This isn't an episode about designer labels, trends or looking fashionable. It's not even really about clothes.

It's about being remembered.

It's about making sure the woman people see on the outside reflects the woman you know exists on the inside. Because whether you like it or not, people are forming impressions before you've even spoken—and if your image isn't supporting your expertise, you could be paying a much bigger price th...
