The Jule Museum Podcast
Episode 43: Douglas Pierre Baulos
Doug Baulos talks about the exhibition "A Bird’s Eye View" on view at The Jule Museum from August 18, 2026 through December 6, 2026. The exhibition presents new work by Baulos in dialogue with 19th-century prints by John James Audubon. Across the 2026-2027 academic year, The Jule Museum is exploring themes of color, one of the most basic yet complex elements of visual art. Learn more about our all-new exhibitions, artists, and themes on our website: https://jcsm.auburn.edu/ Using mended textiles, layered drawings, and found materials, Douglas Pierre Baulos creates installations that reimagine Audubon’s 19th-century images and explore beauty, sustainability, and the fragile connections that shape the living world. Baulos is the Associate Professor of Drawing and Bookmaking at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where they co-direct the UAB Bloom Studios and Dye Garden. Their drawings, collages, and books have been exhibited to international acclaim. Through the work, Baulos creates a space for healing and generative creativity—building a ladder toward interpersonal and collective agency. Support the show
