The Kindness Code - Episode 18 - When progress doesn't look like progress
In this episode of The Kindness Code, we unpack what real progress actually looks like for children in residential care and why it's rarely the big, dramatic transformation people expect. It's a child brushing their hair after weeks of not managing it. Following a recipe for the first time. Sitting at the table for dinner. Attendance moving from 27% to 47% — not perfect, but a huge step for that young person. We also talk about something that doesn't get said enough: regression can be progression in disguise. When a child who's avoided therapy for months finally says yes — and then has a harder week afterwards…that's not a step back. That's them feeling safe enough to finally face what they've been carrying. Our job isn't to fix children. It's to hold them through the process and to notice the small, quiet wins that so easily get lost under one difficult moment. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
