Victimhood Is More Dangerous Than Trauma | ft. Helen Malinowski
Aug 13, 202657 minS3
Most men won't go near the word therapy. But what if the version you've been picturing doesn't exist in this conversation? Jerry Brazie sits down with Helen Malinowski β a licensed clinical social worker, somatic experiencing practitioner, and founder of both Keros Counseling (a 24-clinician group practice in Massachusetts) and the Somatic Integration Institute β for one of the most honest conversations about stress, burnout, resilience, and the body-mind connection you'll find anywhere. This isn't about coping mechanisms or crying on a couch. This is about understanding why the body keeps score long after the mind moves on β and what that has to do with how you perform in business, at home, and in every room you walk into. Jerry and Helen go deep on: Why avoiding stress is more dangerous than stress itself The real physiological definition of trauma β and why the word gets thrown around so loosely it's lost all meaning Self-efficacy as the hidden driver of resilience (and why Jerry's story proves it) Jerry's personal story: getting robbed and beaten at 14, the voice that changed everything, and the framework that built his life How physical discipline and the body-mind connection directly impact your performance as an operator What somatic therapy actually is β and why it's the approach men will be far more willing to try The difference between stress that builds you and stress that breaks you down at a nervous system level The epidemic of isolation and how community (a real tribe, not followers) changes the game Jerry also shares his own transformation β 310 pounds, a 25-year opioid addiction, a heart blockage, and a January 2022 decision to rebuild from scratch. 100 lbs down in 8.5 months. No excuses. Just accountability. Helen's book: Coming Back to Yourself is coming soon. Buying and Selling Businesses β The Deal Table Truth Nobody Tells You | EP #338
Aug 6, 20261h 2mS3
Episode #338 β Joe Prencipe, M&A Attorney Most business owners spend 20 years building something real β then walk into a business sale totally unprepared for what they're about to face. The people across the table have done this hundreds of times. You haven't. And that gap? That's where your money goes. Jerry Brazie sits down with Joe Prencipe, a veteran M&A attorney who has worked on deals ranging from small business acquisitions to $100M and billion-dollar transactions. Joe has been in the room when deals explode, when sellers get blindsided, and when buyers realize too late they paid for a business they can't run. He's also been in the litigation aftermath when it all goes sideways. This is an honest, no-filter conversation about the real world of buying and selling businesses β what the game actually looks like when millions are on the line. In this episode, they cover: Why treating the other side as a friend is the most expensive mistake in any deal The real reason most businesses fail due diligence β and what buyers actually want Seller ego: how the identity you built with your business works against you when it's time to sell How to find advisors who actually fight for you β not just for the commission What happens when deals fall apart days before closing (and it happens more than you think) The business myth that raising money = making it Partnerships β why having two captains always sinks the ship What happens to purpose and identity after you hand over the keys If you're building a business right now, planning an exit, or thinking about acquiring β this one's required listening. From Preaching Sermons to SWAT: Lessons on Human Nature, Pressure, and Accountability | ft. Eric Robinson #337
Jul 29, 20261h 17mS3
Jerry Brazie sits down with Eric Robinson β 12-year senior pastor turned 24-year FBI agent β for one of the most honest conversations The Kronos Group has ever put on tape. Eric worked counterterrorism, crimes against children, SWAT, public corruption, gangs, and informant recruitment across his career. But the thing that made him exceptional wasn't the gun or the badge. It was the 12 years he spent learning how to connect with people before he ever walked into the Bureau. This episode covers the real scope of child exploitation in America β and why it isn't talked about enough. How staying calm in the most extreme moments gets you further than anger ever will. What the SWAT team's after-action reviews can teach any business owner about accountability. And how radicalization actually happens β from echo chambers to violent extremism β and what it means for the world we're all raising kids in. Real talk. No filters. One of the most grounded conversations about human nature you'll hear this year. Why Every Small Business Owner Has a Story Worth Telling | Dan Grech - EP #336
Jul 23, 202656 minS3
Jerry Brazie doesn't buy into the "follow your passion" narrative β and he'll tell you exactly why. In this episode, he goes toe-to-toe with Dan Grech, founder of BizHack and creator of Story-Driven Growth, on whether storytelling is actually useful for the lunch-pail entrepreneur just trying to build a business and feed his family. What comes out of that friction is a raw, real conversation about dark energy vs. light energy, the difference between technicians and entrepreneurs, how a plumber can charge more without changing a single price, and why Jerry's story β homeless at 17, a $25-a-week flophouse, no high school diploma β is actually the blueprint for what's possible. Practical, honest, and not what either of them expected. Why Smart Operators Blow Up Their Own Businesses | Ft. Neil Solomon #335
Jul 18, 20261h 19mS3
Neil Solomon built companies, ran acquisitions for over two decades, lived out of a backpack while operating businesses across the globe β and then, in two years, lost it all. Not because the system failed. Because he stopped using it. In this episode, Jerry Brazie and Neil Solomon break down the full story: the collapse, the hubris, the deal-scoring system he trusted for 20 years and then ignored. They get into the real stuff β why smart, experienced people make the same dumb mistakes anyway, what separates a reversible decision from one that destroys everything, and why your business partners are either your best move or your most expensive mistake. This is a no-filter conversation between two operators who have built and lost and built again. Neil is the author of The 1% Door, and every chapter of it shows up in this conversation. If you run a business, manage a team, or you're just starting out β this one will hit close to home.
