James Year is a photojournalist, researcher and professor whose work focuses on the collision between trucking, artificial intelligence and automation. A six-year U.S. Air Force veteran who served as a C-130 loadmaster, Year spent more than two years traveling 25,000 miles across 27 states , documenting truck drivers and the rapidly developing autonomous trucking industry. His Syracuse University graduate project, “Stealing Fire: The Collision of Trucking and Artificial Intelligence,” explores how automation could reshape the trucking workforce and American supply chains. He has also followed autonomous trucks in real-world operations, including in Texas, and currently teaches photography in Maryland. He rejoins the show for a third time to update us since his documentary with More Perfect Union came out. Amassing over 10 million views it has driven the conversation about AI in the supply chain.
