Pull Up a Chair: The Power of Making Space for Others
Have you ever walked into a room and wondered where you belonged? This past month, while attending a conference where I didn’t know many people, a simple invitation reminded me of something powerful: belonging often begins with someone choosing to make space. A group of educators welcomed me into their conversations, invited me to dinner, and pulled up a chair. It brought me right back to my first edtech conference in 2015, when someone did the same for me...an act of kindness that impacted my journey in ways they probably never realized. In this episode, I reflect on the power of inclusion, the importance of noticing those on the edges, and how small moments of connection can create lasting impact. Whether we’re at a conference, in our schools, or in our classrooms, we all have the opportunity to help someone feel seen, valued, and welcomed. Sometimes the most MAGICAL thing we can do is simply pull up another chair. ✨
