4.6 - Alpha-Test: Clever, Calculated and A Bit Unsettling
In this episode, we dive into Alpha-Test , the short film by Stephen Packer, where a detective investigating a homicide questions a self-aware holographic reconstruction of the victim. What starts as a murder mystery quickly opens the door to bigger questions about AI, technology, creativity, and the choices we make when bringing these ideas to the screen. For this episode, we paired the film with a mini bottle of Ca’ Furlan Cuvée Beatrice Prosecco from Italy, because a mini film deserves a mini bottle. The pairing turned out to be especially fitting: the lively, bubbly, spontaneous character of the Prosecco makes a fun contrast to the carefully curated, calculated nature of the AI at the heart of Alpha-Test . In other words, it’s all about balance . And perhaps a little more Prosecco than we intended… Enjoy!
