Episode #37
The Church That Christ Started
1 Thessalonians 1:1-10 | Pastor Cory elbow dropped this text right to our souls this morning. Paul is writing to a church at Thessalonica that, even amidst persecution and spiritual warfare, was committed to being a sounding board for the gospel in the world. They labored in love and were longsuffering as they faced attacks from without and within. They were a church that not only received the blessed light of Jesus Christ, but one that shined that light into the darkness all around them. They understood that each member had a ministry, that they were helpless without the power of God, and that they were transformed not by their own will but by the will of God. The church that Christ started was a church that did not shy away from standing for Him. As we have broken through into the latter part of the year, it seems as though the Lord has still been leading Pastors Cory and Troy on a path speaking directly to the church and our Christian walk . Starting at the beginning of the year, Pastor Troy began to preach a series on vision and the church, and Pastor Cory has taken a break from Ephesians to bring messages that are very timely for us as a church. There have been powerful messages that we hope you will go back and listen to. These men of God bring us a word from the Lord every week and we pray that you are blessed from this word as well during this season of our lives. The calling for every Christian is to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Well, where does the earth begin and where does it end? For us at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, the world begins in the Shumont Community on top of a little peak in Buncombe County, NC. Our prayer is that through this platform we might do our part in reaching the ends of the earth with the gospel! Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof. Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Isaiah 42:10-11 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Troy Westmoreland and Cory Martinez are the co-pastors of Bald Mountain Baptist Church. They alternate on a semi-regular basis, and our prayer is that their insights from the Word of God may richly bless all those who stop by our neck of the woods!
