Every week, Lucas and Luna scrutinize the business of email newsletters — the platforms, the economics, the craft. From Substack's creator equity model to Beehiiv's ad-network play, they map the shifting landscape where independent writers and media companies collide. They examine real newsletters — Morning Brew, The Hustle, Lenny's Letter — to understand what drives growth, retention, and monetization. Lucas, a former journalist, pushes for the editorial side: How do you build a voice that compels opens? Luna, grounded in audience data, counters with open rates, churn curves, and unit economics. Together, they debate the tension between sponsored content and reader-funded models, the role of SEO and social distribution, and the fragility of a business built on a single inbox. This is not a how-to guide; it's a forensic look at a medium reshaping media. If you run a newsletter, think about starting one, or simply subscribe to a dozen, their conversations will change how you see that da

How a Single Unsubscribe Rate Cut Doubled One Newsletter's Revenue
Aug 21, 20267 minS4
In this episode, Lucas and Luna break down the counterintuitive strategy behind one newsletter's decision to intentionally increase its unsubscribe rate. By pruning inactive readers and focusing on engagement over raw numbers, the publication doubled its revenue within six months. They walk through the specific tactics used—from re-engagement campaigns to stricter list hygiene—and explain why smaller, more engaged lists consistently outperform bloated ones in the long run. Along the way, they share practical takeaways for any newsletter creator: how to spot dead weight in your subscriber list, when to cut ties, and how to frame a higher churn rate as a healthy sign of growth. This episode is packed with actionable advice for marketers and writers looking to build a sustainable email business. #Newsletter #EmailMarketing #ListHygiene #UnsubscribeRate #Engagement #RevenueGrowth #Substack #Beehiiv #Marketing #BusinessPodcast #FexingoBusiness #AudienceBuilding #Churn #Retention #EmailList #CreatorEconomy #DigitalMarketing #GrowthStrategy Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In this episode of The Newsletter Podcast, Lucas and Luna dive into the surprising power of the welcome email—specifically, how one online retailer's revamped welcome sequence lifted email revenue by 24 percent and reduced unsubscribes by 15 percent. They break down the anatomy of that single email: the subject line, the timing, the personalization, and the one-click preference center that let readers choose their own frequency. They explore why most newsletters treat the welcome email as a formality, when it's the highest-intent moment a publisher will ever have with a new subscriber, and how a tiny tweak to the send time—from 10 AM to 7 PM—can double click-through rates. They also discuss the psychology behind the 'first impression' and why a welcome email should sell the relationship, not just the content. If you've ever wondered why so many subscribers go silent after day one, this episode gives you a concrete fix. Plus, a quick word on how listener support keeps this show ad-free. #WelcomeEmail #EmailMarketing #NewsletterGrowth #NewsletterRevenue #Substack #Beehiiv #EmailNewsletter #Marketing #Business #LucasAndLuna #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #NewsletterTips #EmailStrategy #ConversionOptimization #ReaderRetention #NewsletterPodcast #EmailDesign Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
How Newsletters Use Reader Surveys to Shape Paid Content
Aug 19, 20267 minS4
In this episode of The Newsletter Podcast, Lucas and Luna explore how reader surveys can guide newsletter creators toward more profitable content. They dive into a specific example: a niche finance newsletter that used a simple three-question survey to discover subscribers wanted deeper analysis over quick news. That shift led to a 30 percent increase in paid conversions and a 25 percent drop in churn. The hosts break down the survey design, the timing, and how to act on the data without overcorrecting. They also discuss common pitfalls, like leading questions and survey fatigue. If you've ever wondered what your readers really want, this episode shows how to ask and, more importantly, what to do with the answers. #NewsletterSurveys #ReaderFeedback #ContentStrategy #PaidSubscriptions #Substack #Beehiiv #EmailMarketing #AudienceResearch #ConversionOptimization #ChurnReduction #Marketing #Business #CustomerInsight #ProductMarketFit #NewsletterGrowth #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #Podcast Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

Aug 17, 20268 minS4

What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
Is the 20% annual discount automatic?
Yes. Select Annual on the pricing toggle and the discounted price is applied automatically at checkout. The annual price shown is the full year cost.
What if I have more than 50 profiles or 20 clients?
That is our Enterprise tier. Contact our sales team and we will build a custom plan with volume pricing, a dedicated account manager, and SLA guarantees.
