Behind the Sterile Field: Paediatric Surgery in Timor-Leste and the Solomon Islands
This podcast has been adapted from a recent Behind the Sterile Field event, featuring Professor Roy Kimble, a paediatric surgeon with special interests in urology, general surgery, trauma and burns, and Director of Trauma at Queensland Children’s Hospital. Professor Kimble has undertaken extensive surgical work in Timor-Leste and the Solomon Islands. Through Behind the Sterile Field, he shares his experiences working in these settings and reflects on the challenges, opportunities and lessons that come with delivering surgical care outside the traditional hospital environment. Behind the Sterile Field aims to give students direct insight into the experiences of surgeons working in unique and often challenging settings, while providing an opportunity to learn from and engage with those surgeons. For those interested, the full event recording is available through the ASSA website under the Events Portal: anzsurgsocs.org.
