I Was Wrong About My Son: Bad Days, High Standards, and Seeing the Full Picture
After finally getting Dylan’s weekday aide in place, I expected to spend the day making sure everything went smoothly. Instead, I learned something about my own son. I asked Jaeden to train the new aide, and what I heard completely changed my perspective. Jaeden explained Dylan’s routines, preferences, timing, signals, and protocols with the confidence and detail of someone who handles those responsibilities regularly. That was when I realized I had been paying too much attention to his off moments. Because I work a lot and because I’m usually stepping in when something needs to be corrected, I had started seeing the corrections instead of the consistency. I was wrong. In this episode, I talk about why someone’s bad day should not erase everything they normally do right, why accountability still matters, what it means to hold people to a standard of excellence, and why your expectations for someone should never become the ceiling on their potential. Excellence isn’t about becoming someone else’s version of great. It’s about reaching yours. #KailaNewYork #Parenting #ParentingLessons #FamilyDynamics #Leadership #Accountability #PersonalGrowth #Excellence #ParentingPerspective
