Fight or Flight
A violent hijacking by a crew member causes the pilots to fight back for their lives. In 1994, a disgruntled employee called Auburn Calloway was facing disciplinary action for lying about his flying hours. He decided to take matters into his own hands and give his children the Fed Ex life insurance money by attempting the unthinkable. He hid weapons in his carry on baggage, had unrestricted access to the cockpit and tried to murder all three flight crew after take off. His plan was to crash the aircraft and make it all look like an accident. The courageous crew fought back, attempting extreme aerial maneuvers, including almost rolling the DC-10 plane upside down at 140 degrees, and performing dives to disarm and subdue Calloway. Captain David G. Sanders, First Officer James M. Tucker Jr and Flight Engineer Andrew H. Peterson were true heroes. Fighting to the end despite their horrific injuries that cost them their careers.
