Accipere, non fingere — “to receive, not to invent” — is presented as a governing principle of Catholic life, Tradition and witness. HE ✠Jerome Lloyd applies the motto to synodality, the sensus fidelium, liturgical reform, sacred space, Catholic identity, ecclesiastical authority and public witness, arguing that the Church must receive and faithfully transmit what God has revealed rather than manufacture new meanings through process, consensus or cultural accommodation. It concludes by turning the principle inward: the Christian must also receive reality, grace, vocation and the Cross, following Our Lady’s Fiat as the perfect model of faithful reception.
