Have you lost a baby to miscarriage, stillbirth, or SIDS? Do you feel like no one understands the depth of your grief? Maybe you’re angry, bitter, depressed—or drowning in a sea of emotions that feel impossible to name, let alone explain. Perhaps you’ve heard well-meaning but hurtful comments or received advice that made you feel even more isolated. You might be wondering, Where is God in all of this? Or why our country hasn’t done more to prevent stillbirths and support grieving families. You are not alone. And this podcast is for you. I’m Lisa Rowell. In 2013, I gave birth to my stillborn daughter, Julianna Grace. That moment shattered my world. I didn’t know how to survive the pain. I wrestled with God, with grief, with questions no one seemed to want to answer. Ten years ago, I found myself on the edge of despair, holding a bottle of liquor and a handful of pills, ready to give up—until God stepped in and changed everything. From the ashes of that hear

106 | When the Psalms Come Alive: Turning Scripture Into Song with Shane Heilman | The Psalms Project
Aug 18, 202643 min
Send us Fan Mail The Psalms are such an amazing book of the Bible. They are something we can turn to when we are happy, sad, grieving, angry, confused, or simply looking for a place to pour out our hearts to God. There is a Psalm for just about every season of life. I often imagine David singing these songs out loud—even during the difficult moments of his life, perhaps singing to calm Saul. There is something powerful about taking the Word of God and putting it to music. Who’s with me? Today, I have the privilege of talking with Shane Heilman, lead songwriter, producer, guitarist, worship leader, and vocalist for The Psalms Project . Shane wrote Volumes 1–4 and provides lead vocals on Psalms 2, 18, and 37. Originally from Madison, South Dakota, Shane studied music performance at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, and previously wrote and recorded five independent albums. He has performed throughout the United States with various artists as a guitarist, vocalist, and worship leader. Shane’s journey with The Psalms Project began in 2006 when he was commissioned to write a song based on Psalm 1 during a summer mission trip. While he knew the idea of setting the Psalms to music was nothing new, he became captivated by something much bigger: What if all of the Psalms, in their entirety, could be set to music? Rather than pulling out individual verses or removing the difficult and uncomfortable parts, Shane wanted to preserve the essential meaning of every verse and allow the Psalms to remain in their full context. He also wanted to create music that was accessible and listenable by combining modern, familiar instrumentation with unconventional structures and styles—bringing together King David’s ancient words and the sound of modern worship music. There is tremendous power in the spoken Word of God, and perhaps even more when those words are sung. In this episode, Shane shares his journey of starting music at a young age, meeting his wife, raising his children, and continuing the life’s work God placed on his heart through The Psalms Project. He talks about how the Psalms have completely changed his faith, what it has been like to spend years putting Scripture to modern music, and how memorizing Scripture has personally ministered to him. This is a conversation about music, Scripture, family, faith, and what happens when we allow the Word of God to become part of the way we worship and live. Come listen, and maybe you’ll find yourself singing the Psalms a little differently after this episode. LETS STAY CONNECTED: Link Tree Instagram Facebook Twitter Website Give if you feel led. 105 | When August Comes: Is Julianna Learning in Heaven?
Aug 11, 202614 min
Send us Fan Mail As August rolls around, social media fills with pictures of children heading back to school. For many parents, it’s an exciting time—but for those of us who have lost a child, these pictures can bring a different kind of emotion. They can be a reminder of the milestones we’re missing and the years we never got to experience. Julianna would be starting 8th grade this year. As I think about the things she would be learning, the friends she might have, and the person she would be becoming, I can’t help but wonder: What is Heaven like? Is she learning? Is she growing in wisdom and knowledge? What is she doing right now? In today’s episode of the Silent Footprints Podcast , I share some of my thoughts about Heaven and look at what Scripture tells us about our eternal home. I also talk about why it’s okay to ask God questions about Heaven. When we seek Him, He meets us there—even in our questions, our grief, and the things we don’t understand. Heaven is not just a distant idea or a place we talk about after someone dies. If Heaven is the destination we are ultimately headed toward, then shouldn’t we learn as much as we can about it? So, as August brings reminders of the milestones our children should be reaching, I hope this episode encourages you to lift your eyes to God. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. Send us Fan Mail In this episode of the Silent Footprints Podcast, I have the privilege of having Lori McGrew who shared the story behind Maddie's Footprint s, a nonprofit organization founded in January 2010 in memory of Madeline Noelle McGrew. After the heartbreaking loss of Maddie, her family turned their grief into a mission of hope, creating an organization dedicated to walking alongside families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or the loss of an infant. Through compassionate support, they help grieving parents find valuable resources, connect with counseling, and navigate one of the most difficult seasons of their lives. In addition to emotional support, Maddie's Footprints provides financial assistance to help ease the burden of end-of-life expenses—allowing families to focus on honoring and remembering their precious baby rather than the overwhelming financial stress that often follows such a devastating loss. Join us as we discuss the heart behind Maddie's Footprints, the impact they are making in the lives of grieving families, and how hope can grow even in the midst of unimaginable sorrow. 103 | Finding Hope in God’s Presence Through Psalm 6
Jul 28, 20269 min
Send us Fan Mail In today's episode, I'm reading Psalm 6 , a heartfelt prayer from David that reminds us we can bring every tear, every question, and every burden before the Lord. David is a powerful example of someone who wasn't afraid to question God or pour out his deepest sorrow. He lamented honestly, expressing his pain, fear, and anguish. Although there were times in David's life when he wandered from God and tried to hide from his sin, he always returned to the Lord with a repentant heart. David reminds us that God is not intimidated by our questions, our grief, or our failures. Faith doesn't mean pretending everything is okay—it means continually bringing our broken hearts back to the One who loves us, trusting Him even when we don't understand our circumstances. 101 | Clearing Up Organ Donation Myths with Shai Williams of LOPA
Jul 21, 202646 min
Send us Fan Mail Like many of you, I had my own misconceptions about organ donation — until I sat down with Shai Williams of the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) here in Shreveport. In this episode, we separate fact from fiction and get an inside look at the heart and soul behind LOPA's mission. Organ donation offers a second chance at life to people facing critical illness, with donated organs including the heart, lungs, liver, pancreas, kidneys, and intestines. But donation's impact goes even further: donated tissue helps treat everyday conditions like sports injuries, eye diseases such as glaucoma, and vascular issues, while also supporting burn victims and patients with severe wounds. Tune in to learn what organ and tissue donation can really do — and why understanding the facts matters more than you might think.
