Welcome to The Tune'd In Podcast!!!!! (Formerly Known as Dussé & Backwoods) I'm your host TUNDEEEEEE!! Aka Chocolate Papí aka TunGotJokes Twitter/IG/TikTok: @Tungotjokes Special Guest: @RAPHAEL THOMAS On this episode of TIP, we sit down with a multitalented performing artist who is a trained professional dancer, choreographer, visual artist, and creative director, by the name of Raphael Thomas a.k.a. The Sandman. We first start our conversation with Raphael, talking about where he grew up and how he grew up, and his Jamaican roots as well as his childhood growing up in Neptune, New Jersey. Raphael tells us how he had a very normal but supportive childhood as he was constantly put into creative outlets by his parents since he was five years old. He goes on to explain how he started in tap dance, then eventually transitioned into a ballet dancer, where he honed his skills as a performing artist, and then later became a professional dancer. Raphael emphasizes how the support of his parents played such a pivotal role in his advancement in his career, because they were always pushing him to be the best version of himself. Due to his support system and the environment that he was in, he was able to not only excel, but stand out amongst peers and be able to pursue other opportunities in the performing arts. To the point that he was able to go to Harlem at only 12 years old to be a part of a very prestigious and upper echelon program taught by a world renowned black instructor in the form of ballet dancing. We later to go on to talk about how the trials and tribulations of being a dancer can either make you or break you physically and spiritually. He talks about the time he tore his meniscus during a performance, and it crushed his spirits and his motivation. But his mother being the spiritual and holistic, Jamaican woman that she is, made sure to keep his spirits high and to get him back to not only full health and strength, but in mode to believe that anything is possible with proper preparation and faith. The conversation is inspiring in many different ways, as Raphael talks about how he not only travels the world with some of the most famous artist in the music industry, but also had random opportunities that fell into his lap that allowed him to leave a legendary mark on a historical community like Harlem, Nee York. Like usual, our listeners are definitely in for a treat, and like alway this is one you do not want to miss! So sit back and enjoy the crazy world of The Tune’d In Podcast. Yay! Yay!
