Each weekday, Lucas and Luna walk through the aftermath of financial distress. Not theoretical turnaround theory — they dissect actual SEC filings, creditor committee reports, and court dockets from active Chapter 11 cases. Lucas maps the capital structure, the DIP financing terms, and the lender-on-lender violence; Luna focuses on the operational levers — store closures, headcount reductions, asset sales — and whether the restructuring plan gives the business a real second act. Recent conversations have covered Rite Aid's pharmacy network rationalization, the bankruptcy of a regional hospital chain, and the restructuring of a solar manufacturer hit by tariff shifts. They don't flinch from hard numbers: recovery rates by lien position, administrative expense claims, and the delta between plan value and liquidation value. The listener is a credit analyst, a distressed-debt investor, a turnaround consultant, or a CFO who wants to hear how other companies navigated the edge. Every episode

How General Motors Mastered the Legacy Turnaround
Sep 29, 20269 minS5
General Motors didn't just survive the electric vehicle transition; it restructured its entire cost base to fund it. In this episode, we examine how GM used a $7 billion special dividend and aggressive plant closures to free up capital for Ultium battery development. We look at the specific trade-offs between legacy internal combustion efficiency and new energy investment, and why the company's current debt-to-equity ratio tells a different story than the headlines suggest. With real GDP holding steady near 24.3 trillion dollars in September 2026, understanding how legacy manufacturers pivot is crucial for investors watching the auto sector. #GeneralMotors #AutomotiveIndustry #DebtRestructuring #ElectricVehicles #CorporateFinance #BusinessTurnaround #UltiumPlatform #LegacyManufacturing #CapitalAllocation #PlantClosures #SpecialDividend #SupplyChainEfficiency #EVTransition #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #EconomicAnalysis #InvestmentStrategy #IndustrialRevival Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
In the early days of the electric vehicle transition, Ford Motor faced a structural crisis: massive legacy debt from its internal combustion engine operations threatened to starve its new EV division of capital. This episode explores how Ford executed a complex financial restructuring, spinning off its credit arm and leveraging asset-light partnerships to fund battery production without collapsing its balance sheet. We examine the specific trade-offs between maintaining dividend payouts for traditional shareholders and reinvesting in gigafactories, analyzing why some competitors faltered while Ford stabilized its cash flow. With real GDP growth slowing to one point five percent in the second quarter of twenty twenty-six, understanding how heavy industry manages liquidity during economic dips is critical. We break down the mechanics of Ford's debt-for-equity swaps, the role of supplier negotiations in reducing input costs, and the strategic decision to license its BlueCruise technology rather than build every component in-house. This is a case study in operational discipline under financial pressure. #FordMotor #EVTransition #DebtRestructuring #AutomotiveFinance #BatteryProduction #Gigafactory #CashFlowManagement #AssetLightStrategy #LegacyDebt #CapitalAllocation #SupplyChainResilience #GreenTechInvesting #IndustrialTurnaround #BalanceSheetHealth #FexingoBusiness #BusinessPodcast #EconomicDownturn #CorporateStrategy Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
Marriott International has mastered the art of turning heavy debt loads into steady cash flow through strategic asset-light restructuring and disciplined capital allocation. This episode breaks down how the hospitality giant navigated its recent credit challenges, leveraging its scale to refinance high-yield bonds while maintaining robust occupancy rates despite rising interest costs. We examine specific decisions made by management to optimize their balance sheet, including the sale of non-core assets and the shift toward fee-based revenue models that insulate them from direct operational risks. With real GDP growth slowing to one point five percent as of April first twenty twenty-six, consumer spending patterns are shifting, making Marriott's ability to maintain premium pricing power even more critical. Listen as we analyze the mechanics behind this turnaround, focusing on concrete numbers and strategic pivots that have turned a potential liquidity trap into a reliable income stream for shareholders. #MarriottTurnaround #DebtRestructuring #HospitalityIndustry #CashFlowManagement #AssetLightStrategy #CreditMarkets #InterestRateRisk #RealGDPGrowth #CorporateFinance #BusinessPodcast #FexingoBusiness #EconomicAnalysis #InvestmentStrategy #TravelSector #BalanceSheetOptimization #RefinancingDeals #LiquidityManagement #ConsumerSpending Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

In this episode, we examine how shifting to an asset-light franchise model, combined with aggressive fee restructuring and disciplined capital allocation, allowed the company to weather the post-pandemic recovery differently than its peers.
