AFTER HOURS: The Best Therapist Come From The Hood Pt.1 W/ Dr. Christopher Johnson | The Underground Lounge

  Sep 21, 20262h 5m

After Hours gets deep with therapist, author, and neuroscientist Christopher Johnson for an unfiltered conversation about the experiences that shape who we become and how those experiences follow us into adulthood. Christopher breaks down how childhood experiences, heartbreak, rejection, bullying, abandonment, and other formative moments can create the emotional foundation we carry into relationships. The conversation explores insecurity, trust, male and female friendships, dating, vulnerability, and why people often respond to situations based on what they've experienced in the past rather than what is actually happening in the present. The conversation also takes a deeper look at masculinity and emotional expression, including why anger can feel easier for men to express than sadness, why vulnerability is often misunderstood as weakness, and how learning to manage your emotions can change the way you move through life. Christopher shares his own journey into therapy and neuroscience, what led him to become an author, and why he believes therapy isn't simply about fixing what's wrong with you — it's also about understanding yourself, growing, and learning how to use what you've been through as part of your story. Part 1 goes beneath the surface on relationships, mental health, emotional growth, and the things we don't always realize are influencing the way we think, love, communicate, and react. Part 2 is available now exclusively on Patreon. SPRITE LIVING TRACK LIST: https://livingtracklist.genius.com/

  Episode #15

From The Court To The Clipboard W/ Jarrett Jack | The Underground Lounge S4 E.15

  Sep 17, 20261h 44mS4

Former NBA point guard Jarrett Jack joins Lou and Spank in the Underground Lounge for a conversation about life after basketball, making the transition from player to coach, and what it really takes to succeed on the other side of the game. Jack opens up about the challenges of walking away from a career that defined his entire adult life and how an opportunity introduced him to a new passion for coaching. He also breaks down what he learned from watching different coaches, why simply having NBA experience isn't enough to become a great coach, and the importance of learning the details of the game. The conversation gets into coaching young NBA players, building relationships inside the locker room, earning respect from players, setting boundaries, film-room culture, and the difference between coaching through experience and actually understanding how to teach the game. And of course, it wouldn't be the Lounge without the stories. Jack reflects on his NBA journey, playing for seven teams, his experiences as a veteran, and his early relationship with Draymond Green before the conversation takes plenty of unexpected turns.
