The Voiceover Social
89: Trans Talent
Two trans voice actors, two very different journeys into the booth, and a masterclass in turning your voice into your biggest asset. Izzy and Zee join Rob and Helen Bee to talk about how transitioning reshaped their voices, why having more than one vocal range became a career-defining strength rather than a complication, and what "authentic casting" actually looks like in practice. They get candid about being cast because they're trans, being cast despite it, the online abuse that comes with visibility, and why the voiceover industry might just be one of the most welcoming corners of the business. A brilliant, honest listen for anyone curious about identity, casting and the voices behind your favourite games and animation. Plus - News from Equity: a tribute to Equity legend Sheila Mitchell, updates from ARC on AI protections, and the relaunch of the usefee.tv rate calculator.
