Why Layoffs are So Stressful for Dancers (and How to Deal)
May 21, 202628 min
Layoffs can be one of the most challenging parts of a dancer’s career—not just because of the time away from performing, but because they often bring loss of structure, identity, community, and routine. In this episode, we explore why layoffs feel so stressful for dancers and how to navigate them with more self-compassion and intention. We discuss how to check in with your needs around movement, nutrition, body image, relationships, finances, mental health, and rest—while challenging the pressure to use every layoff “productively.” You’ll also hear a different perspective: what if layoffs aren’t setbacks, but seasons for recovery, repair, exploration, or growth? Maybe the goal isn’t to return exactly the same dancer… but to return more grounded, resilient, and connected to yourself beyond ballet. The Real Challenges of Ballet No One Talks About
Apr 2, 202630 min
Ballet is hard—but not always in the ways we’re taught to expect. Beyond technique and training, dancers are often navigating something much deeper: a constant need for validation, a complicated relationship with self-acceptance, and the pressure to adapt without losing themselves. In this episode, we unpack the unspoken challenges of ballet culture—the ones that don’t get corrected at the barre but quietly shape how dancers think, feel, and perform. From relying on external approval to struggling with identity in a highly critical environment, these patterns can hold dancers back more than any technical limitation. But there’s another way forward. We explore how shifting away from trying to fit a mold—and toward embracing your individuality—can transform not only your dancing, but your entire experience in the studio. You’ll walk away with a new perspective on growth, confidence, and what it really means to thrive as a dancer. Because real progress isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about becoming more fully yourself. Get in touch: email jess@thewholedancer.com Looking for support? What to Eat When: Protein, Carbs, Fat… and the “Bad” Foods Too
Mar 25, 202625 min
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering… “Am I eating too many carbs?” “Should I avoid sweets?” “What should I eat before class?” You’re not alone—and you’re not the problem. In the dance world, food can feel confusing, overwhelming, and loaded with pressure. Between social media, conflicting advice, and environments that often prioritize aesthetics over performance, many dancers are left second-guessing every bite. In this episode, we’re cutting through the noise. You’ll learn how to fuel your body with clarity and confidence—without falling into rigid rules or all-or-nothing thinking. We break down protein, carbs, and fat in a way that actually makes sense for dancers, and more importantly, we talk about when and how to use them to support your energy, strength, and recovery. And yes—we’re also talking about sweets, treats, and the so-called “bad” foods. Because food isn’t just fuel—it’s also experience, enjoyment, and part of a balanced life. When you stop labeling foods as “good” or “bad,” you create space for a healthier relationship with eating and better performance. This episode will help you: Understand what to eat before and after dance (without overthinking it) Feel more confident including carbs in your routine Let go of guilt around “imperfect” eating Start listening to your body instead of following external rules Because you don’t need more food rules. The Audition Season Waiting Game
Mar 5, 202617 min
In this episode, we dive into one of the most challenging parts of audition season: the waiting game. As early March hits, most submissions are in—but final decisions often don’t come until April or May, leaving dancers in a difficult in-between. You might feel exhausted, uncertain, and worried that opportunities are slipping away with each passing audition. We talk about why this stretch feels so heavy and how to move through it with a grounded sense of hope. Because the truth is—you only need one “yes.” The right artistic director could see something in you that others didn’t, and your moment can happen when you least expect it. You’ll also learn practical strategies to stay mentally strong, like reconnecting with what you uniquely offer as a dancer and continuing to show up fully in your training. Plus, we explore how to create an “inspired backup plan” so you can keep moving forward in your dance career with intention, confidence, and momentum—no matter the outcome of this season. If audition season is feeling overwhelming, this episode will remind you: you’re not behind, you’re in it. It's never too late for audition support. If you have a concern about deliverability, AI quality, data privacy, or whether this will actually work for your specific situation, it's probably answered below.
What is the difference between Founder Solo and Founder Pro?
Founder Solo gives you 50 AI pitches per month using the credit model (Standard pitches cost 1 credit, Enriched pitches cost 2). Founder Pro raises that to 200 credits per month and adds full Booking Probability access, unlimited Magic Match, Apollo enrichment credits, and data export capabilities. Both plans use the same credit system, so you can stretch your monthly budget further by using Standard-mode drafting.
How do agency tiers work?
Agency tiers have no base fee. You pay per managed client and per talent profile. Agency Standard is $199 per client per month; Agency Pro is $399 per client per month. Both add $39 per talent profile per month. Your own team's user seats are always free.
What is a talent profile?
A talent profile represents one person (founder, executive, or spokesperson) you are booking onto podcasts. It includes their bio, topics, headshots, and outreach history. Team plans include 5 profiles; agency plans are pay-as-you-go.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of the current billing period. Contact support if you need help migrating between plan families.
Do you offer a free trial?
Every paid plan includes a 15-day free trial. Your card is saved at signup but you will not be charged until day 16. Cancel any time from your dashboard.
What happens if I cancel?
You keep access until the end of your current billing period. No charges after that. Your data is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate.
