Where IFS, Enneagram, and Decolonizing Mental Health Intersect: a Conversation with Parts coach and author Tom O'Reilly
We are thrilled to speak with Tom O'Reilly in this episode! Tom is an Parts coach specializing in neurodivergence and author of the brand new book " How to Understand and Deal with ADHD" which he wrote with his wife Charity O'Reilly, LPC. You may know her as one of the hosts of this podcast. Tom talks to Charity & co-host Stacey Aldridge, LCSW about the intersection of Internal Family Systems (IFS), ADHD, the Enneagram, and decolonizing mental health. He shares his personal journey of being late-diagnosed with ADHD and insights into how our various parts may have their own enneagram numbers. Be sure to pick up a copy of " How to Understand and Deal with ADHD" which was just released August 11th, 2026. If possible, support independent booksellers while you do! He studied Psychology, graduated from Albany Law School, worked as a waiter in fine dining, and worked toward becoming a high school math teacher, before pivoting to a career in Information and Technology. After being diagnosed with ADHD at age 30, it put his whole life into a new perspective. When dealing with extreme burnout, learning about the Enneagram helped him break out of his rigid beliefs and identify his patterns of dealing with stress. Tom now works as a Parts Coach who specializes in working with ADHD populations. He grounds his coaching in trauma-informed, anti-colonial perspectives. Tom is co-author with Charity O’Reilly on a book on ADHD that is being published in August 2026. During his free time, Tom likes to talk to the spirits of the forest and Delaware River, communicate with his ancestors, and communicate telepathically with his cats.
