Episode #3
((Podcast)) by Pascale Halliday & Keith Halliday: mining the motherlore
The Klondike Gold Rush History Podcast was a labour of love between two Yukoners who share a deep-rooted passion for local history. Produced by Pascale Halliday and her father, Keith, the 22-episode series guides listeners on an epic journey from the origins of the greatest gold rush the world has ever known to its apogee during Dawson City’s salad days of ’98. And, of course, they can’t get from one to the other without spending some nerve-wracking time on the Yukon River. From an interview near the famed manes of the now-tamed White Horse Rapids, Pascale reflects on her personal connection to the gold rush and the family affair of the podcast’s production. Then she goes with the flow of our Fall issue’s current theme—rivers, rivers, rivers—by introducing our presentation of the episode “Bennett to Dawson in a leaky boat” from the Klondike Gold Rush History Podcast .
