Entrusted: We Are Entrusted With God's Word | Ps. Candice Chicken
What does it mean to be entrusted with something valuable ? To be entrusted means to receive something with the expectation that we will care for it, use it wisely, protect it, and remain faithful with it. In this message, Ps. Candice Chicken launches the Entrusted sermon series by challenging us to recognize the incredible gift and responsibility we have been given: God’s Word . For many believers, the Bible is easily accessible. We can own multiple copies, read it on our phones, and access Scripture whenever we want. But with that access comes a question: Are we truly stewarding God’s Word well? Ps. Candice reminds us that the Bible is not simply a book to own—it is God-breathed, alive, powerful, and able to transform the way we live. In This Message Ps. Candice explores three powerful pictures of what God’s Word is and what it does in our lives: 1. The Word of God Is a Mirror God’s Word reveals us to ourselves. It exposes our fears, doubts, unbelief, and sin—but it also reveals who we are in Christ and who we are becoming. 2. The Word of God Is a Lamp Scripture gives us direction for our everyday lives. It may not show us the entire road ahead, but it gives us the light we need for our next faithful step . 3. The Word of God Is a Sword The Word of God is our spiritual weapon and protection. When we know, memorize, meditate on, and speak Scripture, we can use God’s truth when facing fear, temptation, worry, and difficult circumstances. How Do We Steward God’s Word? Ps. Candice encourages us to: Read Scripture daily Study God's Word Meditate on it Memorize Scripture Put God's Word into practice Obey what Scripture teaches Ask the Holy Spirit to make God's Word come alive in us You don't have to read the entire Bible at once. Start small. Read a few verses each day, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you, and make God's Word a daily habit. If you're new to reading the Bible, Ps. Candice recommends starting with the Gospel of Luke to discover more about the life and ministry of Jesus. Key Scriptures 1 Corinthians 4:2 — Those entrusted with something must prove faithful. 2 Timothy 3:16–17 — All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching and equipping us. Hebrews 4:12 — The Word of God is alive and powerful. James 1:22–25 — God's Word is like a mirror and calls us to obedience. Psalm 119:105 — God's Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Ephesians 6:17 — The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. Joshua 1:8 — We are called to continually study, meditate on, and obey God's Word. A Challenge for This Week Take some time this week to ask yourself: What am I doing with the Word of God that has been entrusted to me? If your Bible has been sitting on a shelf, pick it up again. If your Bible reading has become routine or dry, ask the Holy Spirit to bring fresh hunger and life to your time in Scripture. If you've never developed a habit of reading the Bible, start today—even if it's just a few verses. God has entrusted us with His Word. Will we value it, live by it, and faithfully steward it? And ultimately, the question isn't only “What will you do with God's Word?” but “What will you do with Jesus?” Jesus invites us to entrust our lives to Him. He died for our sins, rose again, and offers forgiveness and new life. Key Takeaway We have been entrusted with God's Word. It is alive, powerful, and valuable. When we read it, it reveals us, directs us, and protects us. Our responsibility is to faithfully steward what God has placed in our hands. ⛪ Thrive Church Helping people move towards Jesus .
