Ep. 131 - The Buddhist Way To Recovery: Dharma And The Zen Of Getting Sober.
Welcome back to this week's episode of Trudge Report. Thank you for supporting the show. We kick things off with the Great Florida versus Northeast chicken wing debate. The kids go back to school in Florida and just how much the world has changed since we were in school. Corey and Greg prepare for a trip to Philly to go see Foo Fighters with some other friends. This week we bring a little mini series of episodes where we take a deep dive into other brands and forms of recovery. There are different paths up to the same mountain top and this week we talk about the Buddhist style recovery and what it looks like compared to the path we know. We explore the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, mindfulness, craving, attachment, suffering, personal accountability, and the idea of changing our relationship with discomfort instead of escaping it. We talk honestly about where Buddhist recovery overlaps with our own experiences, where we have questions. We give a quick historical timeline and each of us discuss tenants of that style of recovery that we like and dislike and others that we are intrigued and fascinated by and would like to know more about. We will be doing other deep dives on different recovery organizations sporadically so stay tuned. "The true refuge is not a place outside of us, nor is it a substance.
