What Scars Will Define You
We all carry scars. Some are physical, some are emotional, and some come from the failures we wish we could forget. But what happens when we allow those scars to become our identity? In John 21:1–19, we meet Simon Peter after his greatest failure. He had denied Jesus three times, and now he finds himself back where it all started—fishing on the Sea of Galilee. But Jesus doesn’t leave Peter defined by his failure. He pursues him, invites him back into relationship, restores him, and ultimately sends him back out on mission. Peter had scars—but Peter also had a mission. Maybe you've allowed your past, your failures, your regrets, or the things done to you to convince you that God can't use you anymore. This message is a reminder that your scars may be part of your story, but they don't get to write the ending. Jesus does. The scars on your life tell the story of what happened to you. The scars in the hands of Jesus tell the story of what He did for you. So the question is: What scars will define you—yours or His?
