Why I Launched the Venture:F Podcast
Hi everyone. I’m Laura Nix Gerson host of the Venture:F podcast. I launched this podcast and platform two years ago for a multitude of reasons. As I entered my 50’s I realized I didn’t know enough about growing my wealth and investing. And I am not alone - so many women my age feel like they need to learn more but don’t know where to begin. Additionally, I have been advising and working with start-ups for more than twenty years, and one of the many challenges that diverse founders continue to face is that of raising capital. But I believe that if more women grow their wealth and learn to invest - we will see more women investing in women. I am not a financial expert, but I know a lot of financial experts, investors and women in finance. These are incredibly smart women who know a lot about a variety of topics when it comes to money. And Venture:F brings them to you. We interview leading experts on growing wealth, how to build your stock portfolio, what it takes to start angel investing, what is venture capital, how to invest using your Donor Advised Fund, real estate investing, and so much more. I am so lucky to get to interview these brilliant women, learn from them, and share that insight with all of you. We also skim investing news and share highlights on our Substack and have built Guides and resources to help you find communities and events so that you can join other like-minded women on this journey, You are not alone. We are at a unique moment in time where women, money, and power are converging. We’re seeing this on Wall Street and within financial institutions as more women step into financial leadership roles from the C suite, to the boardroom, and even in the investing community with the rising number of women launching or joining venture funds. We’re entering into an era of women’s wealth enlightenment or financial wellness - however you want to coin it - as more women take an active interest in their personal finances. As a result or perhaps synergistically, there are communities and platforms popping up everywhere to fulfill women’s need to learn more and take a more active role in their financial and investing decisions. Additionally we are about to experience the largest wealth transfer in history with $80T dollars transferring from baby boomers to their heirs. 66% of the wealth in the US will be in the hands of women. How these inheritors invest that money will impact everything. Taking those 3 things into account, I’d say women are in the strongest position ever to be in charge of the money. And if the data is correct, women will use that money to invest in the things that matter most to us - family care, healthcare, education, technology that improves our lives, the environment, and companies led by…women. So buckle up, tune in, and get ready for this next season of the Venture:F podcast. Listen on all podcast streaming platforms, follow me on Substack.
