It's a movie about a total pussy with no game who makes a wish that immediately blows up in his face, and it is genuinely one of the most disturbing, beautifully crafted things I've seen in years. Director Curry Barker made something with more depth and technique than the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe combined, for well under a million dollars. Go watch it. Then it's unboxing time. Three packages. Deep Red, Dario Argento's ultimate giallo film, which I am embarrassed to admit I have never seen. 12 Angry Men on Criterion Blu-ray, one of the greatest films ever made and probably the most riveting thing ever shot in a single room. And a 30th anniversary vinyl of Ultra's Big Time, number 19 out of 100, Kool Keith, Tim Dog, and the man who told Compton to go fuck itself. Flight Log returns and it's ugly. Frontier is quietly disappearing, and I can prove it. I just paid $900 round trip to sit in a filthy, screenless, non-reclining exit row seat with garbage in the pocket and a miserably depressed flight attendant holding what appeared to be a safety manual chewed by a dog. A commenter informed me, somewhat condescendingly, that egg rolls were invented in Canada. I did my research. He's wrong. New York City, 1930s. This country's greatness remains intact. From there, the big one. I couldn't figure out what to write about all week, and then it hit me: I'm completely overwhelmed. I don't know what the hell is going on anymore. News outlets using Gen Z slang, adults desperately chasing youth culture, a proposed age cap on social media, Instagram then versus Instagram now, a man convinced by ChatGPT he was on a world-saving mission, and a deeply personal story about how my mother's compliments led me directly to the John Casablancas Modeling School in a Norristown, Pennsylvania strip mall. Reality is no longer real, people.
