48. The Most Underrated Summit Skill Nobody Talks About
Aug 19, 202615 min
What if the biggest problems in your virtual summit have nothing to do with your tech, your speakers, or even your strategy but with your communication? In this episode of Virtual Summit Secrets, we’re breaking down one of the most underrated skills every summit host needs: clear, proactive communication. From your speakers and attendees to your affiliates and team, the way you communicate expectations, deadlines, next steps, and updates can make the difference between a summit that feels chaotic and one that runs smoothly. And spoiler alert: better communication doesn’t necessarily mean more communication—it means giving people the right information at the right time. In this episode, you’ll discover: Why so many common summit problems are actually communication problems How to set clear expectations with speakers from the very beginning What your attendees need to know before, during, and after your summit How to make promotion easier for speakers and affiliates Why clear roles and one central communication hub can make your summit team run more smoothly How proactive communication builds trust during summit week The simple questions to ask before sending any summit email, reminder or update Why creating a great summit experience comes down to making people feel informed, prepared, and supported Your summit doesn’t need more emails just for the sake of sending them. It needs communication that eliminates confusion and makes the next step obvious. When your speakers, attendees, partners, and team know exactly what’s happening and what they need to do next, you create a better experience for everyone including yourself. Tune in to learn how to make communication one of the strongest parts of your summit strategy.
47. The Myth of "More": Why Bigger Isn't Always Better
Aug 12, 202612 min
When it comes to virtual summits, it’s easy to assume that more is always better. More speakers. More attendees. More bonuses. More days. More tech. But what if adding more is actually making your summit less effective? In this episode of Virtual Summit Secrets, we’re busting some of the biggest myths about what makes a virtual summit successful. We’re sharing why smaller, more intentional events can create stronger engagement, better conversions, and a much better experience for both you and your attendees. From curating the right speaker lineup to simplifying your tech and rethinking those massive VIP bonus bundles, we’re breaking down where “more” creates unnecessary overwhelm and what to focus on instead. In this episode, you’ll discover: Why more speakers don’t automatically mean more reach, value, or revenue The summit metrics that matter more than registration numbers Why a smaller audience of ideal attendees can outperform a massive audience How attendee behavior has changed and why implementation support can be more valuable than huge bonus bundles Why you probably don’t need a brand-new tech stack to host a professional summit How shorter events and smaller speaker lineups can actually increase engagement The three questions to ask yourself before adding anything else to your summit Why simplifying your summit can create better alignment, conversions, and long-term business results Your attendees don’t need the biggest summit—they need the right summit. Before you add another speaker, bonus, platform, or day to your event, tune into this episode and discover why sometimes the smartest thing you can do is simplify.
46. Why Less Might Be the Best Thing for Your Summit
Aug 5, 202610 min
What if the secret to a more successful virtual summit isn’t adding more—but intentionally doing less? It’s easy to look at massive speaker lineups, elaborate bonus bundles, multiple VIP tiers, and fancy tech and assume that’s what a successful summit is supposed to look like. But more moving pieces don’t automatically create more value. In fact, they can lead to more stress for you, more work for your speakers, and more overwhelm for your attendees. In this episode of Virtual Summit Secrets, we’re busting the myth that bigger is always better and sharing why a simpler, more intentional summit can actually create a better experience for everyone involved. We’re diving into what we’ve learned from experimenting with smaller speaker lineups, audio-only events, streamlined tech, and simpler attendee experiences and why those constraints can help you focus on what actually matters. In this episode, you’ll discover: Why more speakers, bonuses, and tech don’t automatically lead to better results How oversized summits can create decision fatigue and decrease attendee engagement Why alignment matters more than the size of your speaker lineup How simplifying your summit can help attendees consume less but implement more The three questions we ask before adding anything new to an event How constraints can help you build a more focused, intentional summit What you may be able to remove from your event without sacrificing value Your summit doesn’t need to be the biggest or most complicated event in your industry to make an impact. Sometimes, the clearest, simplest, and most intentional experience is the one attendees actually get the most from.
43. What Makes Someone Actually Say "Yes" to Your Summit?
Jul 15, 202616 min
Have you ever looked at a virtual summit with an incredible speaker lineup and wondered why registrations weren't pouring in or watched a seemingly simple event attract attendees with ease? The truth is, people don't register for summits because of celebrity speakers, beautiful graphics, or a perfectly optimized registration page. They register because they believe your event can help them solve a problem they care about right now. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why big-name speakers aren't usually the primary reason people register for a summit The two biggest questions potential attendees ask before saying yes to your event How your summit topic, promise, and positioning work together to make your event irresistible The trust signals that help attendees feel confident your summit is worth their time Why registrations are often back-loaded—and why you shouldn't panic if numbers start slowly How to use curiosity strategically without making it the only reason people sign up Why a beautiful registration page can't fix poor positioning or a lack of traffic The biggest registration mistakes summit hosts make What to look at first when your registration numbers are lower than expected Why every summit gives you valuable data you can use to make your next event even better If you've ever found yourself obsessing over registration numbers, endlessly tweaking your landing page, or wondering whether your summit topic is resonating, this episode will help you focus on what truly moves the needle. Tune in to learn how to create an event that speaks directly to what your audience wants, positions your summit around a meaningful need, and makes it easy for the right people to say yes.
42. The Attention Problem: Why Summit Attendees Behave Differently Than They Did 3 Years Ago
Jul 8, 202610 min
Have your summit attendees been acting differently lately? You're not imagining it. The virtual summit landscape has changed and it's not just because of new technology or different platforms. Today's attendees consume content differently, engage differently, and have much higher expectations for how online events fit into their busy lives. In this episode of Virtual Summit Secrets, we're breaking down the biggest shifts we've seen in attendee behavior over the past few years and sharing how we've adapted our own summit strategy to keep engagement high without overwhelming participants. From flexible replay windows and shorter content formats to integrated communities and implementation-focused VIP experiences, we're sharing what's actually working in 2026 and what outdated summit strategies you may want to leave behind. If you've noticed lower registrations, less Facebook group engagement, or attendees skipping sessions, this conversation will help you understand why and what to do instead. In this episode, we cover: Why summit attendee behavior has changed over the last few years The biggest mistakes hosts are still making with virtual summits How flexible replay windows can improve watch time and completion rates Why Facebook groups aren't driving engagement like they used to The shift from information overload to implementation-focused experiences How fewer speakers and simpler event structures often lead to better results Why lower registration numbers don't always mean your summit is underperforming The future of virtual summits, including personalization and AI-powered attendee experiences The most successful summit hosts aren't clinging to strategies that worked five years ago—they're continually evolving their events to meet attendees where they are today. This episode will help you do exactly that.
