Welcome to Work Together, Worlds Apart Every successful business has one thing in common: it doesn't rely on memory, luck, or one person to keep everything moving, it relies on great processes. Cash Is King: Stuart Rosenberg on Money, Tax & Building a Financially Strong Business
Jul 10, 202657 minS1
Welcome to Work Together, Worlds Apart What if the biggest threat to your business isn't a lack of profit, but a lack of cash? In this episode of Work Together, Worlds Apart, Chartered Accountant Stuart Rosenberg joins Lee and Mike to unpack the financial fundamentals that every business owner needs to understand. With years of experience advising businesses across multiple sectors, including FCA-regulated firms and franchise groups, Stuart shares practical insights into managing cash flow, navigating tax, and building a business that's financially resilient. Together, they explore one of the biggest misconceptions in business: why profit doesn't always mean money in the bank. Stuart explains the crucial difference between profit and cash flow, how working capital affects day-to-day operations, and why so many otherwise successful businesses fail because they simply run out of cash. The conversation also covers the importance of building the right financial team, understanding your numbers beyond your profit and loss statement, and making strategic decisions with confidence. From tax planning and borrowing to AI in accounting and succession planning, this episode is packed with practical advice that can help business owners make smarter financial decisions. Whether you're just starting out or scaling an established business, this episode is an essential reminder that understanding your finances isn't just your accountant's job, it's one of your greatest competitive advantages. The Boring Years of Success: What Nobody Tells You About Building a Business
Jun 25, 202624 minS1
Welcome to Work Together, Worlds Apart Everyone wants success, but very few people talk about what it actually takes to get there. In this episode, we pull back the curtain on the reality behind entrepreneurial success stories. From setbacks and sacrifices to the long, unglamorous "boring years," we explore the hidden work that often gets left out of the highlight reel. Lee and Mike discuss why sustainable business growth is built on consistency, patience, and continuous improvement, not overnight success. They share insights into the importance of learning from industry experts, surrounding yourself with the right people, and celebrating small wins along the way. The conversation also tackles the role of luck, privilege, and inheritance in shaping perceptions of success, while highlighting why persistence, preparation, and a genuine desire to improve remain the common traits among high achievers. If you've ever felt frustrated by slow progress or compared your journey to someone else's highlight reel, this episode is a powerful reminder that every success story has chapters most people never see.
