Episode #25
Gilded
Please be advised that the following episode contains discussions of sexual assault, violence, and rape. In this episode of Youth on Rewind , Ripley Hicks shares her story of experiencing and escaping an abusive relationship. Abuse is not a one-size-fits-all experience — it can creep into relationship dynamics in painfully elusive ways. Emma Griffin-Derr of the Denver-based education nonprofit Project PAVE joins host Lucy Richardson to discuss what abuse can look like, and the intricacies that make identifying and escaping abusive relationships so difficult. Then, hear Ripley unpack her story further with the help of Gavrielle Reyes, Youth on Record's Mental Health and Wellness Manager. Also, hear recent data showing the prevalence of abuse in our communities, how hard it is to find justice, and the poor rates of sexuality education in our country.
